Game Thread 2014 B1G Championship Game: tOSU vs. Wisconsin, Dec. 6, 8:17 PM ET, FOX

Just got home and I went in hoping for a win any way we could get it. Not because I did not believe in this team but because I wanted to just win the B1G championship after last year. There will no review for me this week because that was perfection in every facet of the game. Ash dialed up the loaded box and made Stave beat us...of course he didn't (only two weeks late after getting torched by Cobb and Coleman, but I will take it). The defense had about the most lights out, silver bullet performance I have ever seen. Hats off. Herman came in knowing he could not read-dive every play and took his shots down field to the chagrin of Wisky. Hats off. The kick coverage was perfect, the punting was perfect, and no turnovers (here is looking at you UFM/Coombs). Hats off.

Cardale Jones...I could not be ANY more proud of a young man. He had every excuse he wanted to sulk and even walk away after they named JT over him. Instead, he kept working and only that effort could have prepared him for this week. The coaches deserve a ton of credit but damn did he play a fine game. No turnovers. Huge throws. Smart reads with check downs. Never forced the issue unless it was an all-in deep ball and Devin is the man to do it with. The offense just SHREDDED a very, very good defense. Everyone elevated their game around Cardale and he fed off of it.

In all, I just cannot be any more proud of this team from the players to the coaches. I said no matter what tonight, this was about as resilient of a team that I had seen as an Ohio State fan (this accounting for a potential loss). After tonight, I truly think this is a championship caliber team that has what it takes to win it all regardless of what comes next. If we do not get in, I do not know what to say. But screw that for now, this team should be damn proud of what they accomplished this year. GO BUCKS!

Just got back to my hotel and WOW!!! That was fun!!!
Then I turned on ESPiN (I know, I know, that was my first mistake) and heard Mark May make an ass of himself by saying you can't have a team who wins get jumped by another team who wins. Hasn't he been watching the committee results over the last 6 weeks or so? They consistently have jumped teams who won. Just last week Free Shoes won and was jumped. Unfortunately neither Rece or Lou called him on it. Time to turn it back off and just enjoy the historic win.

Let's count some of the reasons we get in ahead of TCU and Baylor:
  • Better SOS
  • Better record against top-50 FPI
  • True conference champion
  • By far the most impressive win of the day
  • Better overall record
No fucking way we get left out...

  • name on the jersey
I have been quite confident for some time that if it came down to it, TCU/Baylor aren't winning a beauty contest with OSU.

Frankly, TCU should be in, along with TOSU, and FSU should be out. That's what my 'Eye-Test' tells me. But I don't think you can leave out an undefeated P5 team. Hopefully I'm wrong and the committee says 'Fuck FSU right in the pussy'.

Literally.

Tomorrow at noon I want to hear Jeff Long utter the words "Fuck Jameis right in the pussy".

Nothing short of that will satisfy me.

Those are much more salient points than the following (though I think these are just as much into play): Alumni base, $, TV ratings, and national appeal. If we squeaked by tonight, you can likely overlook all these points. But after a 59-0 throttling of a very good Wisconsin, not sure how you do. I have been saying up and down that the Big 12 has proven nothing this season other than the fact that some people like glorified 7-on-7 high scoring matches. Zero big non-conference wins (ok, Minny is week two...big whoop). TCU is the only team with an argument against us and while it is unfortunate they do not have a championship game, no way you cannot weigh that in heavily. They should have played Baylor again today, not freaking Iowa State.

I almost forgot the most important thing...FUCK Wisconsin. I think Gary Anderson is a fantastic coach and human being, but my lingering hatred for Wisky still makes every matchup with them personal.

Because it's Ohio State vs TCU and Baylor, as opposed to maybe Ohio State vs Texas and Oklahoma.

I think the brand name winds up breaking in our favor.
