2014 B1G Basketball Tournament (official thread)

their defense is a liability, that's for sure. But Michigan is pretty solid themselves in the open court. A run and gun opponent doesn't but the fear in me. The matchup I'm dreading is going to be a team that slows down the tempo, runs a zone, and drops it down low to a big man all day.

The nightmare matchup for Michigan would be a team with a bigger, athletic guard that can shutdown Stauskas (someone like Marble for Iowa, who totally dominated Stauskas in Iowa City) plus a bigger front line that could expose Michigan's weak front line of Morgan and Horford. But, honestly speaking, Michigan really has been getting a lot of breaks when it comes to timely shots at the end of games and opponents missing their shots at the end (see the Illinois and OSU games in the BTT for recent examples), such that if Michigan hits a cold streak and/or doesn't get those breaks, it really could be an early exit in the NCAAs.

The fact that they're being considered as the last #1 seed really is mind-boggling to me--there are plenty of teams that are being slotted as #3 or #4 seeds that I would take in a heartbeat against Michigan in a straight-up bet on a neutral floor.

iif you guys shoot the three like you did yesterday what the hell are you worrying about:huh: saying that if Payne does not get into foul trouble I think you guys might be in trouble and I certainly hope that is the case:biggrin:

Stauskas over Harris remains a laughable choice for B1G PoY.

A great perimeter shooter with mediocre slashing ability, solid passing (on the massive sellouts to stop his shooting) and weak defense... and a guy that stands in the corner watching the game when his shots aren't falling.

or a strong perimeter shooter, strong slasher, strong post up player, strong rebounder and strong defender... and a guy that still shuts down the opposition and attacks to get FTs when his shots aren't falling.

After seeing Mich St against us the last game of season I think they will make a very deep run. Especially if they get in the Witchita St region. I still think Mich St and Kansas are the two best teams when fully healthy. Florida right there too, but lack of quality games I think will haunt them in tourney.

It would appear Sparty is the nightmare matchup......oh well. I think a 2 seed in the Midwest is more favorable than a 1 seed in the East.

Agreed. I'll add Arizona to that list as well. Four very dangerous teams.
