2013 Week 7 CFB Open Thread

I think it's already been settled. Texas AD has stepped down for next year, they haven't officially said it yet, but it looks like this is set up for Mack to take over as AD. They can lose all of their games, and it wouldn't change anything.
Dodds stepping down at texas will mean a clean break from the Mack-Dodds regime. Dodds is his life line. They'll open up their wallets and bring in name people, not settle for more "mack brown texas football."

Everybody in college football shreds the Texas "run defense" except OU. Do they even have a RB?
They have quite a few & have used them all this season it seems. If this is your first game watching OU, this is nothing new. They're offense is not very good, especially the passing game. Almost all of there games have been close this season even against some not very good opposition.

The biggest issue at OU is that their recruiting has fallen off a cliff. Even the higher rated guys they've brought in the last 4-5 years have mostly been busts. Like I said, I don't know if that's stoops getting fat and lazy on his prior success or if they're just being outworked, but OU is not a premier program anymore. They're just stale.

There's the all-everything Johnathan Gray Texas fans were looking for. Is there a Texas HS rushing record he doesn't have ?

Completely agree here. I remember the days when they posed a direct threat to us for more than a few recruits & now you don't even see them being mentioned with any of the guys we recruit now. The big eye opener is how few major prospects they've been getting from Texas recently. They always got some of the states top players, but that hasn't happened in years it seems.

Could be the case, and I think they open their wallets for a coach, but Texas football is like politics. Mack has done a lot for them, he's just not keeping up with the times. They take care of their own. Mack is not good for recruiting. Thinks the Texas name will bring all the recruits he needs, but that isn't enough anymore. It also seems like he can't keep up with the times as far as coaching. He's a good ole boy, perfect fit as an AD, which is more of a political role. Maybe I'm wrong, but the timing of the announcement that the AD is leaving coming when a coaching change is needed just makes me think he'll move up to AD. But yes, I think they open their wallets and bring in a top tier coaching staff :)

I'm sorry but this is slightly incorrect the big cigars as they are referred to love Mack. I've posted it before the guy who's name is on the field at DKR memorial stadium loves him... Are there guy's with money that don't like him, yes but they seem to be few in number

Read the article SI put up last week Re: the state of texas athletics. Doesn't sound like Mack has the support that many think outside of Dodds.

I could be wrong, hell, I'm no texas expert. But that article by SI made it sound like sweeping changes could be coming...then again, it was SI.

I completely agree. Stoops is a good coach, but can't keep up. He'll win his 10-11 games a year, but without a coaching change or some sore of incentive to get Stoops to bring back his younger days they aren't a top-10 program. Stoops seems to be resting on his previous success, as far as recruiting goes.

Aggy and more "now" programs like Oregon, Ok State, and tOSU seem to be drinking their milkshake in Texas. OU is like a double cheeseburger left under the heat lamp for too long. They're not a "cool" program anymore.

The media will always go to an extreme to get hits. Texas is Texas, they don't like change, and very rarely see sweeping reform. Again, I could be wrong, but if I was a betting man, I would always bet against sweeping reform in Texas.
