2013 Week 7 B1G FB Open Thread

My picks:
Indiana @ Michigan State: The Hoosiers beat a Penn State team that looks like it'll have a long year. Meanwhile, Michigan State went into Iowa City and came out with a somewhat surprising win. MSU keeps the Old Brass Spittoon for the fifth straight year and wins by 6.

Nebraska @ Purdue: Purdue is probably the worst team in the B1G this year. Nebraska hasn't exactly looked dominating at points this year but swept away a decent Illinois team last week. Even though this is in West Lafayette, I like the Huskers by 17 in this one.

Northwestern @ Wisconsin: This is just not a good situation for the Cats to walk into. Wisconsin is rested and coming off a bye week, while Northwestern poured everything they had into the big emotional game against OSU last weekend. Plus, NU is giving up 144 rush yards a game while UW is 6th in the country in rushing yards per game. I expect Northwestern to move the ball but ultimately the Badgers will control the clock and put this one away in the fourth quarter. Wisconsin by 13.

Michigan @ Penn State: This is my upset pick of the week. You could make a case that UM should already have at least 2 losses on its schedule. They beat a terrible Minnesota team last week. I think the Nittany Lions rebound from a deflating loss in Indiana last week and stun the Wolverines. PSU by 3.

First team in 20+ games NOT to force Gardner to have a turnover. :shake:

I am going to be interested to see how the Spartans handle the Hoosier offense. I think the Hoosiers put some points on the board in this one, but I don't think it will be enough. Nebraska wins easily. Wiscy slices through NW like swiss cheese and their defense will be much stouter than ours in a surprisingly easy win for the Badgers. PSU and Meatchicken, well now this game could be very interesting, but I think PSU rolls over in the end.

Called the Hoosiers win last week. Thought going into the year that IU can win games against teams they can outscore.

Michigan State is another one of those teams...tempted to call another win for them.

Indiana concerns me as much, if not more, than any other team left on the schedule. I just think their offense is a terrible matchup for OSU given the current defensive deficiencies.

MSU v. IU is a difficult one. Hoosiers win when they can outscore, but Sparty wins when they can keep the other team from scoring. It could turn into a Hoosier win in a shootout 30-21 or Sparty could win 14-10. Really hard to call. Either way, I expect a nail biter...for those that care.

The Cats heading into Madison is also a tough one. I want to say Wisky will walk out with a comfortable 14+ pt win, but I think Northwestern is being severely underrated. They are the nerd school, but they have some talent and are really well coached. We played our C game against them. It would be because we underrated them and we were tired, but it could be that they did a great job making our secondary uncomfortable. I expect Wisky to win, but I think it will be close. They have stronger lines and a better running game, but so did we. The fact the Wisky came off a bye and it's in Madison is the tipping point for me. Cats are good and I wouldn't be surprised to see them again in the championship game.
