2013 Week 7 B1G FB Open Thread

Rooting interest for Buckeye fans is Indiana, Northwestern, scUM, and Nebraska right?

Sparty/Hoosiers - Hoosiers because OSU plays them... although if Sparty were to win the "other" Division by winning out that probably wouldn't be a bad SOS thing for the Buckeyes in the conference championship game so this one is close. Actually I think I'm going to flop and root for Sparty here on out (till they face Buckeyes).

Wiscy/Northwestern NW because even though Wiscy should have won that ASU game, the computers don't know that.

scUM/PSU - yuck - Obviously, in the moment, I will enjoy a sCUM metldown, particularly if it's Gardner throwing jump ball interceptions, but long term it's better if scUM's only other loss of the year were to a one loss MSU.

Nebraska/Purdue - OSU doesn't play Nebraska, but Purdon't was so bad OOC that any win inside the Big 10 isn't good for anyone else in the Big 10

I read the best thing for OSU is for Northwestern to win out, and Michigan to win out with the exception of losing to Northwestern. That would give OSU a couple Top 15 wins back-to-back (10-1 Michigan and 11-1 Northwestern again in the CCG) in November.

I think you root for Indiana because Sparty isn't on the schedule, and if they beat Indiana and don't make it to the CCG then OSU gets no benefit. Logically you'd say the same thing about Purdue and Nebraska...but yeah, Purdue is so bad I don't know if that will help more than it hurts.

I like Indiana's fight song better than Sparty's. Trouble is you almost never hear it played once the game starts. What are the odds on Indiana winning two Big Ten games in a row? Slim and none and I'm going with Sparty.

I like Northwestern 'cause their colors are Purple and White, same as my old high school. Go Dragons!

Does Nebraska have a fight song? Purdue has a good one, but that's about all and watchin' ol' Bo Pelini have a hissy fit on the sidelines is almost as much fun as watchin' Brian Kelly turn purple or Sourpuss Steve Spurrier throw his QB under a bus. Go with the Huskers.

Weather is dry, the track is fast and I'm betting that Gardner doesn't drop the soap in the PSU shower room. Will be fun to watch Nurse Diesel light up the BWI board afterwards.

Might be a hair better in the PCs for OSU to beat scUM or NW twice if the only loss was to OSU, but I think a win over a team that OSU hasn't played already will play better with the voters. Then again the media is will spin whomever OSU plays into a negative.

I think the best bet is for both of them to roll all their opponents. NW beats TSUN in a close game. Ohio State then puts back-to-back plungerings down on TSUN and NW in the BTCG.

I tend to agree with that.

Either way, until OSU is sitting comfortably in the #1 or #2 spot it'd be beneficial for both teams to be undefeated the rest of the way- sans the game they play against each other (Go Wildcats!).

Still...Fuck Michigan and may the Hokester embarrass himself on the way to any wins they luck into.

They'll be hard pressed to embarrass themselves any more than they did against Akron and UConn. Those are two of the worst teams in the FBS and they should have lost both of those games. What a disgrace.
