2013 Week 11 CFB Open Thread

Chaos Theory time:

1. Oregon loses to Stanford

2. Baylor loses to Oklahoma

3. Bama loses to LSU

4. FSU loses to Wake Forest

I put them in order of how likely I think they are to happen if they happen, not that I really think any are truly likely to happen right now. I think the type of team Stanford brings to the game is the exact type of team that Oregon has always struggled with. If they can get by Stanford they will have cleared a major hurdle mentally as well as physically. That also could lead into a letdown game down the road. Same with FSU - they've been spot on all year long, but at some point you have to think they'll let up. It would be this week, Wake isn't great but they're "frisky". I could see them giving FSU a battle, which probably means FSU will win 56-3.

I don't know why I listed Bama losing to LSU. LSU doesn't have the mental toughness to finish off a team of equal or superior talent. Somewhat the same for Oklahoma, but they also don't have the offense to stay with Baylor if Baylor is able to score at will against Oklahoma's defense.

As for the Big Ten and teams on Ohio State's schedule:

Sparty is off. Wisconsin must win against Bring'um Young and while Northwestern playing scUM would usually make me want NW to win, I think scUM winning decisively would give Ohio State the biggest boost down the road. Buffalo needs to continue to win by beating Butthead Fredo tonight. SDSU has an important game against San Jose State on Saturday that would put them to 5-4 and within a game of bowl eligibility.

Also, should it come to pass that Stanford ends up beating Oregon, one thing that works in Ohio State's favor is Stanford's loss to Utah. Utah sucks. They're 1-4 in the PAC-12 and only 4-4 overall. Weird.

I'd like to think this is true. Considering Oregon jumped us the week they beat Virginia (2-7) who knows if it is. The only consistent thing I've seen this year in terms of how teams are perceived is just how inconsistent it is.

Oregon won at least. Stanford didn't. Big difference.

Beyond that, the resultant jump in computer profiles, human polls and all the rest of it (slowly but surely, there seems to be something akin to sympathy trickling out for Ohio State due to the Big Ten's perceived weakness), Ohio State would likely go to #3 and be pretty close to #2 - like within a couple tenths.

Let's just let it play out. It'll be fun either way.

I think the chances are decent enough for three loses in the top five this week, but no way does FSU let off the gas enough to get stunned by Wake. Duh U they are not, and even if they struggle in the first quarter/half, they'll ride an easy tide to victory the rest of the game. Stanford jumping us on the bye week does stick in the back of my mind, but if it happens, it will only last for the bye week (because we'll likely lose points, for some ridiculous reason).

Pulling for Buffalo, but Ohio just got screwed by possibly the worst call I've ever seen....QB gets called for intentional grounding in the endzone for a safety, but he threw the ball at the four yd line with the ref right there! Solich tried to challenge, but by rule it can't be. Horrible call.

Ohio universty athens campus just got hosed on an intentional grounding call at the 4 yard line that was ruled a safety.

Yep. That was a complete clusterfudge. Yet another reason instant replay sucks - the rules about which plays are able to be reviewed/corrected are mostly arbitrary. It's more important to get the procedure right than the call. It's absurd.
