2013 Week 1 CFB Open Thread

Because a lot of college athletics has to deal with covering your boy or hiring them (look at our staff near the end of the Tressel era, who held the positions and where they went after OSU).

I used to be an assistant college soccer coach in the ACC and was also an assistant AD in the Pac-12 and you'd be shocked how many unqualified people get assistant coaching jobs (tons in Olympic sports) because their boy (or a relative) is the head guy.

You would think winning would trump this. I really expected Bollman to be an assistant at Wake or Pitt or something where they don't have to worry about winning. 1 year with this idiot leading the team will set them back 5 years, after they came so far. That was one of the dumbest moves they could make. Who's idea was it to hire this guy? They have decent enough talent this year to have a 10 win season and possibly beat a decent Big 12 or SEC team in a bowl. That all goes away with Bollman calling the plays. Now they are looking at 8 wins at best and getting slammed in a bowl, which should effectively kill any chance of a top 25 recruiting class.

With ttun and tOSU on vacation, Wisconsin and MSU had their chance to join the top of the conference and it appears that they have both squandered it.
