Re: Michigan football run like a country club!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We run a clean program, we can't compete for conference and/or national titles. You have to cheat to be elite, just look at the programs at the top. We will always be a clean program and wallow in mediocrity. Would you rather be Alabama and half the players on steroids? How about Auburn and pay for players? Or USC and provide benefits to players and their families? Get over it, this isn't 1980-1990, things are different and the NCAA look the other way. We either get with the times or always finish 4th to Ohio State, MSU and Wisconsin. This is the steroid period and we aren't on the cutting edge. The only difference between a 5* and a 2* recruit is some juice. Programs who recruit 2* can afford to take the risk so we're just screwed.

The OP before it gets deleted (because it includes a spammy link):

Wake up Michigan fans, the Michigan State game was fixed, just like hundreds of other college football games every year. There's no way in the world Michigan State could have won this game -- let alone by 23 points -- unless the fix had been in, big time. You'd have to be pretty naive to believe this game was on the level. Seven sacks for 49 yards against one of the the fastest and quickest quarterbacks in the country? No way. Gardner took those sacks on purpose because the fix was in, and he was doing what he was told to do. Corrpution is widespread in all major college sports, and players and coaches have to cooperate if they want to be part of it all. It's required by the system. That's how the same team that trounced Central Michigan 59-9 in its season opener, ran up 63 points on Indiana and 40 points on Notre Dame, Penn State and Minnesota gets demolished by a mediocre Michigan State team that struggled to defeat hapless Purde 14-0 two weeks ago.

Best rebuttal:

Try the PSU board, bro.

What was it like when Michigan was great?
I'm 19 and have only been following the team since '05, and more seriously starting in '06. I've never seen a Big Ten championship in my years of serious following. For the older gents, what was it like when Michigan was great?

It was basically a great deal of whining about Lloyd Carr losing Rose Bowls. People wanting us to bring in a head coach to "bring us to the next level", bring in a spread offense guy...

The John Cooper era at Ohio...well, that is what you really missed out on. Those were good times.
Set down my young friend and I'll tell you. I'm 40 and my 14 yr old thinks $osu is like the patriots which sucks cause I remember the 80s and 90s.

Now they have gone and blasphemed.

Why dont people place the blame where it really should go BM
When Bill Martin made that sexy RR hire it set our program back at least 5 yrs. Rule #1 you dont hire a coach from the Big East. We have a good coach its just gonna take some time to clean up the BS that RR left. Dont lose faith the Phoenix will rise again.
