2013 Preseason and regular polls

With Baylor out of the picture and secure as the "on-deck batter" at #3 ... I think I'm going to root for MSU and Wiscy to lose. Their placement no longer affects us, and I'm tired of seeing runner-up Big Ten schools lose BCS games. If everyone plays the bowl they earned... everyone not named Ohio State might actually have a chance of winning their bowl games. I think we can at least take some of the air out of ESPN's agenda to devalue a competitor and not have to go through this again next year.
But if we have Wisconsin losing for the 4th time in a row on a big stage... and everyone having to move up a spot... it'll just stay ugly.

Ok, I'm done after THIS post.

But yeah, someone here on BP basically said Iowa is garbage. When I posted the fact that three of their four losses were to potential/probable BCS Bowl teams and the fourth was either Sparty or Wisky, I didn't get a reply. It's the espn hyperbole. It's become so pervasive that even Buckeye fans are stating it as fact as well as using it in arguments against homers like myself.
.
It's ridiculous.

1 more thing.

FUCK THAT SCHOOL UP NORTH.

BUCKYLE, out.

Just sayin': Both Stanford and Arizona State have another game to play before the PAC-12 Conference Championship. It could be a 3 loss PAC-12 team.

I just don't see Zona St, Stanford and 0regon all losing a game. But, they have been big on disappointment this year. Don't forget, a 2 loss Stanford get a shit load of credit last year for beating a tough 5 loss (finished 5th in Big Ten regular season) Wisconsin in the Rose bowl by 6.

"Ohio State is safe at #3 and doesn't have to worry about anyone jumping them" - ESPiN

What ? I don't believe it.
They can't be folding already... I mean... having 1-loss didn't stop them campaigning for Stanford...

Ahahaha! Somebody claiming Clemson is the best 1-loss team.
I like the guy making excuses for South Carolina for missing their starting QB against Missouri... who was also missing their starting QB?
BTW why isn't MSU in this discussion? If Auburn is "supposed to be a 2-loss team", Clemson got blown out, and Missouri lost to a mediocre SC ... why isn't a 4-point loss to an 8-4** Notre Dame a disqualifier?

**current 8-3, but I don't think Notre Dame can play Stanford Football™ as well as Utah or USC

Missouri lost to a....TOP 10 uSCjr!

Wanna feel sick? Check out the Colley computer rankings website....specifically, the part where you can fix the Wisconsin/Arizona State game:

http://www.colleyrankings.com/playgod.html

Add Wisconsin beating Arizona State
Remove Arizona State beating Wisconsin

If the refs weren't completely brain dead at the end of that game, at least one computer poll would have Ohio State #2 behind Florida State.

Moves Wisky from 16 to 6. Moves us from 2 to 3 over Bama. So his computer thinks the Big Ten is right behind the SEC SOS considering a Wisky win puts our SOS over Bama's. Though I think that would change come Saturday if they beat Auburn. But still, nice to know that everything isn't all hoked up.

I'm kind of on the edge with Iowa. According to Pollster logic, they have "quality losses" ... but at the same time, their best win is Minny. I know Minny is better this year, but.. umm.. yea... just can't bring myself to go down that road. I think they're a decent enough team, but not sure about Top 25.
On Friday they're playing in the "Almost Embarrassingly Lost to Hoke" bowl against Nebraska. If both parties performances are inept as they were against the bowl's namesake... it could be another nationally televised embarrassment =/ I'm hoping it's over-shadowed by the comic duo Texas & Texas Tech the day before and LSU dismantling Miss. St. the same day.

Yeah, Iowa's not a powerhouse or anything of the sort, I'm simply saying that it's a huge stretch for David Pollack to sit on the set of ESPN shows and spout Iowa is, "a four loss team ... they're awful." Vanderbilt and Ole Miss are all 7-4 too, and both also were beaten by the four best teams on their schedules. FFS, Vandy's only beaten one team that is going to end the season with a winning record, and that was a narrow win over injury-riddled Georgia.

It's just a continuation of the sensational narrative: The SEC's 7-5 & 8-4 teams like Ole Miss and Vanderbilt are evidence of superior depth, while the B1G's 7-5 & 8-4 teams like Iowa and Minnesota must be garbage cause they couldn't beat the slightly-better, but still shitty, other teams in the B1G.

You're giving Herbie too much credit--he qualified that statement by saying the Buckeyes must win impressively (i.e., they can't just be 13-0 if the wins are close).
I agree. Frosted tips is just trying to get out in front of things if Alabama loses. If they win out, he willmsay how it pains him as an alum, but it was never on the cards.

Since the day Urban was hired it was in the cards. The fact that they keep trying to downplay it is ridiculous at this point. Urban Meyer vs Nick Saban has been, and still is the dream game for anyone looking to pocket money in this. As long as they both win out it isn't going to matter what other teams do. Mark it down, take a pumpkin picture.

While I appreciate your undying faith, let it go man. The writing is on the wall.

It's like I don't even know these people anymore ...

ESPN In$ider articles where Kiper and McShay "argue" OSU's worthiness as a title game participant.

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-...033813/college-football-does-urban-meyer-case

Mel Kiper: It has been 693 days since Ohio State lost a football game. [...] There's a point where you have to step back and consider the enormity of what it means to just never lose football games [...] What do you have to defend about never losing, and beating opponents by 30-plus points on average? Well, plenty, it seems. And while I have Florida State and Alabama just ahead of Ohio State right now in terms of where I'd rank them, there are a few reasons OSU has legit beef with being left out of all the title projections so far [...] I'm not saying Ohio State is clearly at the same level of FSU or Bama right now. But it's hard to blame them for wanting a shot to prove it. After all, the last time they were big underdogs in a BCS title game, they won it.

Todd McShay: I do think that Meyer and Ohio State have a legitimate beef, at least when it comes to the seemingly agreed-upon assumption that Alabama and Florida State are the clear Nos. 1 and 2 and a lock to play in the national championship game. I do think that the Crimson Tide are clearly the most deserving team of a BCS title shot, but in my opinion the gap between the Seminoles and Buckeyes is closer than the national perception.
