2013 Preseason and regular polls

From a strength of schedule perspective, it's really a shame for OSU that UW lost that game at Arizona St. (all debates on the kneel down at the end aside). Had they not lost that one, odds are very, very good that UW would have finished the season with only the loss to OSU--UW's toughest remaining game is either at Iowa or at home against PSU. I would be shocked if they don't finish the season 10-2.

I feel absolutely terrible for Aaron Murray who came back for his senior season a shot at the National Title. Losing both RB's and his top three WR's has absolutely devastated the offense and he's doing his best to make the walk-on's and Freshman RB's as productive as possible.

Win out in the East, play Bama tough and home for an At-Large to the Sugar Bowl if Bama doesn't stumble. Failing that, I guess it's Wisconsin in the Cap One bowl.....

Well the way they steamrolled Northwestern, really surprised me. They are a very physical team. I hope the Buckeyes can continue unbeaten all the way to Michigan. But we have to deal with Ferentz and Iowa and they always play tough at the Shoe. We just have to focus one game at a time.

Iowa doesn't always play Ohio State tight at the Shoe, or anywhere else for that matter. The Buckeyes own a 46-14-3 record over them, 29-8-1 at home, and 17-6-2 on the road. Yes, there have of course, been some tight and memorable games.

But - here's the recent home games again them
2009 Ohio State 27 to 24
2007 Ohio State 31 to 6
2005 Ohio State 19 to 10
1999 Ohio State 41 to 11
1997 Ohio State 23 to 7
1995 Ohio State 56 to 35
1991 Iowa 16 to 9

Yeah, and should be noted that the 2009 game was against one of those "once every five year" good teams that Ferentz seems to have had. This years team hasn't been particularly impressive. Their "blow out" was against an awful western m*ch*g*n team, and to a degree, consistent B1G doormat Minnesota. They stuggled to beat mediocre ISU and FCS Missouri State and were manhandled by sparty.

Just caught a bit on the FoxSports Live where they were discussing how a maximum of 5 teams can finish undefeated. It was a pre-recorded montage type thing where they ended by saying "teams are likely to be chosen based on conference strength based on the SEC and Pac-12 being the top two ahead of the ACC, Big 12 and the awful Big 10". Pretty bad when Fox, who is a business partner, is even dumping on the big 10.

I know the money isn't as good, but I don't think it would be the worst thing for the Big10 to only get one BCS this year for matchup reasons. It does the conference no good to have everyone play "up" and get embarrassed.

The bigt en is bad again. The pac 12 probably has the best top 4. Sec has next best top 4 but has the best top 8. They also have the biggest conference and 5-6 real bad teams. Acc is basically the big ten if michigan were as good as OSU. Easy to catch. Ip ersonally think the big 12 is sitting at the bottom. They are like the big ten without OSU.

Over the last 50 years (since 1963), we're 33-4-1 against Iowa, winning by an average score of 31-14...and at home it's 18-2 with an average score of 32-12.
