Well, I'd have to say that you are wrong. Targets this year are bigger. Prove me wrong. Prove the targets are the same size.

Two can play that game: Prove the targets are bigger. You can't.

Team will always have us circled on their calendar...always.

If you don't think that the ramped up expectations don't create a bigger target, you have not been listening to players much. Opposing players are always looking to knock off someone at the top of the rankings and they say so regularly.

We're coming off a perfect season and expected to contend for a national title this go-'round.

Most of us last year were optimistic for 9-3. So.....yeah.

Targets don't necessarily go by a recent win/loss record, they go by program. You could also argue that teams who historically fare badly against tOSU (e.g., Indiana) would have the game circled even bigger if they think they have a better chance of finally winning (ala last year). Bottom line is that teams won't be playing us tougher this year solely because we ourselves have higher expectations. Our game against Michigan was circled even when they were coming off that 3-9 season, simply because they're Michigan. There are a handful of teams across the country who get everyone's best shot every year, season after season, regardless of how they fared the previous year or how well they're expected to fare in the upcoming season, and we're one of them.

It could also be argued that tOSU will play IU and Purdue tougher because last years games were closer than they should've been.

We didn't play Purdue any tougher last year than we did in 2011, so apparently that game wasn't circled on our calendar last year.

JFC....it doesn't make a fuck who has who circled or who played who closer than they should have last year.

All that matters is if I am wearing my lucky shirt and standing in the right spot to watch the game. That's it.

You can tell its the off season around here. Sheesh.

Last year, the Buckeyes had nothing to lose. This year the pressure will be huge. Let's face it...anything less than undefeated will be a let down. I'd say everyone knows that and it will make that target just a little bit bigger.

Noboby let's down against us! Nobody!
If we were National Champs last year there might be a slightly bigger "target".
Slightly.
What's different this year is WE KNOW we're going forward. There will be a Bowl game. Maybe the biggest Bowl game.
I'm predicting we lose one some how and end up in the Rose Bowl.

I really think most teams will overlook us this year with all the hype Northwestern and Penn State are getting.

If we can find a way to get past Northwestern then maybe some will start giving us some notice.

I won't say "nothing to lose". With Meyer taking over his dream job after our disasterous 6-7 season, he was under the microscope from the get-go. Obviously expectations are through the roof this year, but the teams on our schedule this year will be playing us as hard as if we were coming off a less-than-stellar season (i.e., as did IU and PU last year).
