2013 British Open at Muirfield

God, Tom Rinaldi is such a douche. That was the second time I've seen him laughing when they come on camera and he's all like, "Oh, hi viewers. We're laughing 'cuz I just told a funny joke to a famous person that you'll never get to speak to."

Looking back I think it's unfair to say that virtually the entire rest of the field collapsed. It's a tough course that plays differently every day, and today it was unkind to the field. I think Phil's 66 today was the equivalent of a 62 or 63 on just about any other Sunday - it was that far beyond what everybody else was doing.

I might agree, but it wasn't one of those situations where the greens were slow for the early tee times and fast for the late, or play was interrupted by a storm or it was dry and sunny for half the field and rainy and windy for the other. For a four day event, it seemed like everyone faced the same course each day - just not the same course as the day before -

At the Masters and the US Open, Phil and others got the yips while Scott and Rose held together. Today Phil held together while the rest of the field went to yipsville.

And Tiger took a weekend at Bernie's. Lots to like about this.

I really didn't see this coming from Phil today, but it was just an amazing round. I kept saying to my family that I was impressed with how Phil was playing this week and he really was doing a great job keeping away from the big number. Other than the four putt on 16 Phil really stayed away from those shots that really have plagued him in the past in close situations in majors.
