2013 British Open at Muirfield

Definitely a wide open event this year. IMHO no real clear cut favorite. Justin Rose and Phil are probably two of the hotter players right now. Although I would never bet on Phil winning an Open even with the Scottish Open win.

Seeing the R&A chief Peter Dawson at the pre-tournament press conference getting grilled on the all-male golf club (Muirfield) reminds me so much of a Snickers commercial (Wanna get away?).

The moment the female reporter asked him why racism was wrong but sexism was o.k. was a cringe moment (for Dawson).

It's warm and dry at Muirfield, much of the turf is brown and the greens are super fast. Players are unhappy with the conditions and where some of the holes have been cut.

Ian Poulter ‏@IanJamesPoulter 21m

Unfortunately the guys this afternoon will struggle with a few pin positions. 8th hole is a joke, 18th needs a windmill & clown face.

I'd have a list of every woman's only club in England I'd like to be a member of.

(And there are actually a couple)

There would probably be some sort of lawsuit or fine, but I agree with Peter Alliss' comment (during the early hours) that if Rory McIlroy is really struggling, just break out the old clubs or whatever he feels comfortable with (whether it be clubs, clothes, women, etc.).

It was funny when Paul Azinger said putting tape on clubs to cover the logo would make the sponsors mad (in response).

I always wonder when successful players change equipment with these contracts. It is seemingly not always a good thing. I recall David Duval's slide started when he got the big Nike contract and switched equipment.

Anyone catch Tirico and Azinger working the magic screen? Azinger couldn't make it work for the life of him and Tirico kept having to fix it....

Could this finally be Lee Westwood's week or will he go full Monty.....

Oh, I'm pretty sure Tiger had a Nike Driver cover on a Driver that wasn't a Nike for a good long time.
