2013-2014 College Basketball (official thread)

Iowa State beats Michigan. ISU was favored in this game being unranked. Why ISU isn't ranked is beyond me. THey are a solid team that took osu to the wire last year in the tournament aren't they?

You missed the part where that ISU team that took OSU to the wire lost SIX SENIORS. The team that beat UM today was a shell of the one that played in the tourney, as that ISU team shot the lights out from 3 and this one is a far cry from that.

If they officiated Kentucky/Louisville games like they have Ohio State games this season, there would notLet us let be anyone on the court at the end of the first half. Let us hope they officiate for some consistency come March which is probably unlikely.

Reffing has gotten a bit worse I think because officials feel an urgency to make more foul calls on defenses, and they are making more bad foul calls as a result. I have seen a lot of times a guy will drive and jump into a defensive player who's gone straight up in the air, and then they call a foul on that defensive player - that isn't a foul when they go straight up but they are now rewarding offensive players for being out of control a lot of times.

The new rule in college basketball to me, favors the offensive side of the ball for sure. Our Aaron Craft always seems to be in control when he goes into the lane, hoping to draw defender to him and can make some good plays.

But a team like Wisconsin really will push this new rule to the limit I think. For some reason they can do this a lot from what I have seen of their games so far. And they want to do this so as to go to the free throw line to win their games. Decker is their outside shot guy but he has been known to go inside a lot to draw the foul.

I was referring to the lack of fouls called in the Louisville/Kentucky game iif the officials were following the so-called new standards on fouls. I saw quite a bit of "body contact" that was never called in that game and was called in many of the games Ohio State has played this season.
