2013-14 Bowl Games Open Thread

Disagree. The B1G is definitely inferior to the S-E-C Conference in its on-field product, but we're no worse than any other conference. And from a revenue perspective, we are way on top, which allows B1G to support a breadth of non-revenue sports that the S-E-C can only dream about. Add to that the fact that the B1G is the top basketball conference and I'm pretty happy with where we are.

Doesn't mean, of course, that I don't want the conference to improve our football product, but more than that I want the Buckeyes to beat the living snot out of the next S-E-C team we play.

And let's remember, #16 LSU beat unranked and 4 loss Iowa.

#9 USCe beat #19 and perpetually over-rated Wisconsin.

Unranked and unstable Nebraska beat #23 UGA.

I'd say the Big Ten fared pretty well considering 3 of its best teams were matched up against "better" $-E-C schools by design. Is there a gap? Sure, but it's not like the product sucks or that they aren't competitive, because they all were. Really the only bowl game the Big Ten has truly been out of was the scUM game.

I'm not so sure it was the team that was unstable so much as its head coach, but your point is well taken.
