2012 East Regional discussion

This kinda shit makes me wish for a Coaches Challenge in NCAA basketball. You get 1 per half and you keep it until one isn't overturned. UNCA coulda thrown 4 flags in the last 4 minutes and still finished with a flag in his back pocket...If college athletics are going to keep giving us some fucking total shit officiating then give the teams the opportunity to challenge and correct it.

Not a good day for officiating. Wow. My guess is the crew on Syracuse-UNCA game will have the rest of the year off, unless the CBI calls.

They should be banned to the CBI for the next 10 years...make them call the Mercer/Tennessee State games in front of 12 raucous fans.

They (the NCAA) don't want a coach's challenge because then it will expose their bullshit once and for all. Basketball is a sport where the refs, by how they work the game, can more or less make certain of the outcome, perhaps more than any other sport. For financial reasons, the NCAA never wants to let go of that.

I think I might have seen some games that had worse officiating over the course of an entire game (Indiana this year comes to mind, I think).. but the magnitude and total absurdity of some of the calls in this game were unbelievable. Just totally obvious calls going the wrong way.

especially the goaltend and the outofbounds were the worst calls I have ever seen, I mean it's clear as day

Any you watch B1G sports regularly, so you've likely seen the worst all-time.
I'm pretty damn close to agreeing with it, myself.

Maybe not the worst officiating, but certainly the most decisively-worst I've ever seen. Every bad call was at huge moments that directly impacted Cuse positively.

They weren't just bad calls, but they were atrocious calls in big moments that decided the game. Feel terrible for the kids from Asheville.

Nothing we post can possibly capture just how badly the refs hosed Asheville with their incompetence. This crew should not work another game in this tournament.

I don't recall the details, but a year or two ago, weren't there some refs who were bounced out of further tournament work because of how mightily they sucked at their job?

Even tho' I had 'cuse in probably every one of my brackets, this was not fun to watch. I hate few things more in sports than having a game decided by the officials, ESPECIALLY when it's decided by blatantly bad, stupid, incompetent calls. Poor kids on the NC team. It's one thing to lose a game by your own efforts, but when the refs steal your chances from you...:shake: I could about cry, too.

Fixed. That was probably the worst officiating I've ever seen.

You probably all remember the dUMb/Nebraska bowl game done by the Sun Belt refs a few years back...that was possibly, top to bottom and start to finish, the worst officiated game I have seen at the college level. From the sounds of it, this may very well surpass it exponentially.
