2012 Camps/Combines/etc.

I don't think there was much shame in not making the 11 this year. Sounds like they had a heck of a group of QB's. I just hope OSU fans don't start calling out the Elite 11 coaches(you know, the people who were actually there) and complaining about JT not making it. I've seen some UM fans demanding answers on twitter why Morris wasn't on the list. Who cares?! It's a great experience for the kids, but really it's a meanlingless competition in the grand scheme of each of their football careers.

The class of 2014 has a lot to live up to. Class of 2013 1-25 was one of a kind. #Elite11 #Surgeons

In the complicated, in-penatrable world of "who will be a good QB", which the NFL draft has not mastered and for sure I have no expertise, I find the simple calculus of "the more candidates the better". I personally find relief in knowing that Jalin Marshall did surprisingly well in this competition.

It is well documented that Brady did not start during is first year of Junior High and he was the seventh string QB from up north.

I also point to Zwick versus Troy.

Romo.

Unitas.

I will not go on, we all know the stories.

This wasn't an environment I'd expect Barrett to thrive in. I doubt Braxton or Pryor would finish top 11 either. It's designed for pro-style QBs with big arms.

I don't know all that much about Barrett but things I've read and seen from him in his highlights make me believe he's a perfect fit for our offense. He already plays in the spread, is a strong, quick runner, and accurate passer who makes quick decisions. Also throws a good deep ball. Supposedly a very coachable kid too and a great leader. Couldn't care less if his arm strength isn't all that great or if he's not ideal height. May matter in the NFL but doesn't matter much for the spread.

Pretty homer post but like the kid a lot. Also helps that he's coming in early and has 2 years to learn under Braxton.

The elite 11 is a nice camp to say you went to but really means nothing. Looking at their entire list of invitees:

Its really a crapshoot. There are more nfl undrafted players, and players that have flamed out in college than successes. Like has been stated, dual threat qbs don't thrive in this atmosphere as it is purely for pocket passers. Guys like cam newton, Robert griffin 3, TP, Russell Wilson, ronald curry(i include him because he was the #1 player and qb in his class) and even mike Vick haven't been selected. They've all seen certain levels of success. Jt is in a great offense for himself and there shouldn't be any drop off between he and braxton
