(it's obviously early, but here's what it looks like right now)
Horse ran yesterday, didn't have that good of a workout. Ran him early this morning, and trainer declares him fit.
Scanned his leg and found what appears to be "the start of some minor tendinitis in his right leg"
So, here's the thing... he probably could run. He probably would be fine.
But, here's the thing, if they have to pull him up, it's going to look bad. (And of course, you don't want him to break down on the track, Barbaro style, but, it seems unlikely)
Also, there's the point, very unfortunately, that you have a horse that won the Santa Anita Derby, Kentucky Derby and Preakness in a row, and won't have the black mark of not winning on his record equals stud fees probably higher than if he loses.
Bucklion;2163902; said:Yeah, that's the nice way of saying they pulled him because they feel like its more likely that he won't win than will win, and that's bad for their bottom line...not because he's actually too hurt to run.
