2011 TSUN shenanigans and arguments (off season)

Nah, I just think he'll turn their D around. Doesn't excuse the way TSUN fans slurp off every new messiah, just my imo.

I'll be happy to be wrong.

Agreed on the fucking of TSUN, however.

I agree, I just didn't want to miss an opportunity to call those fuckers up north the spectacular bastions of mediocrity that they are. I think they will turn things around as well... they will get back to the Carr era 9-3 seasons year in and year out for sure.

You can never put it past them to absolutely suck balls however. The entire concept of a "Michigan Man" makes them all entitled fucks who think going to tsun is all they need to do to succeed.

Hell, even their stupidly effective recruiting pitch right appeals to a bunch of players looking for the easy way out. "Come to Michigan to avoid any turmoil in Columbus and return Michigan to glory!" It's like the mentality of the Heat this year, all they need to do is show up together and bam! glory restored. Like the Heat, however, they will find that it takes much more than that to win in crunch time when it matters most.

There is a reason Michigan is 1-9 against Ohio State and 2-6 in bowl games in the past decade.

A bunch of entitled fucks have never and will never have the edge they need to win at the highest level on the football field.

If anything, Hoke has proven that he is the perfect coach to feed into that mentality of entitlement... it's what they fucking look for when they hire a "Michigan Man". Yeah, calling Ohio State "Ohio" is all it takes to give them the edge they need to take them to the next level.

I'm getting repetitive here, and for that I apologize, but seriously, fuck them.

Mattison should have the D turned around. Kids want to play for a former NFL guy.

Greg Robinson had 11 years as a Defensive Coordinator in the NFL, Mattison has 3, so that in itself won't make the difference.

They weren't recruiting the same type of kids they are now. They won't be running the 3-3-5. They've already got some talent coming in.

I really don't feel like arguing for TSUN.

Just think they'll be a lot better this year, and more so the following years.

I hope I'm wrong.

How much better?

I believe they will go 7-5.
I have no idea what UM's record will be this year, obviously, but they could go 7-5 and still be considerably better than they were last year. For one thing, they could reverse their manner of winning/losing; last year they barely won in their victories while getting buggy-whipped in their losses. If they did the opposite of that while still having the same record, they'd be a significantly better team than they were last year. Also, their schedule's tougher this year than it was last year. In general, they were a bad 7-5 team last year. This year, they have the opportunity to become a good 7-5 team.

I don't think you're wrong at all. For the past few years they've had one of the worst defenses we've ever seen, because they recruited for and ran a scheme that was completely unsuited to Big Ten play. Just the type of guys they are targeting (and apparently landing) now tells me they are going to turn it around and field respectable rosters.

And yet it's just funny/sad/pathetic the way those bandwagon losers glom onto someone other than their new HC for their renewed hopes and dreams. I thought all along Hoke was the best guy for their program now, but he's an un-sexy pick and received a pretty tepid reception by the message-board crowd who expected a bigger name, so now here we are listening to them crow about how Mattison is The Man! Well, Hoke hired Mattison, and this is Hoke's show, and those idiot scUM fans are even more idiotic for continuing to do what they've been doing for years.

Fuck scUM.

Scheme alone will improve their squad.

Mike Martin, Craig Roh, Ryan Van Bergen, Jibreel Black are all much better suited for a more traditional front. The problem is they may not even have a serviceable second tackle to line up opposite Martin. Right now the leading candidates are Campbell, who is athletic but painfully raw, or Washington a former offensive lineman. if someone can emerge there that units improvement can really hide the rest of the defense's inadequacies.

There is no way to scheme around their lack of talent in the back 7.

Denard will struggle with the transition under center , but having a downhill attack should lead to far fewer third and long situations. Stonum and hemingway were completely wasted in the old offense.

Well, he was only in the NFL for a very brief time, and as Charlie Cheeseburger taught us all so well, what works in the NFL doesn't always translate to the college game for numerous reasons. Plus he worked for Willingham for years, if that doesn't send up red flags I don't know what would.

Eventually the allure of his NFL experience will be diminished by his failure at Michigan, particularly in his first two or three seasons when the talent level would prevent Tim Tebow from fielding a successful defense, and the fact that he is a fat, balding old man working for a fat, lying douchebag.

Ahhh, the evil plot is unveiled. When the scUM defense fails to significantly improve it shall, we deduce, of course then be Ty Willingham's fault!
