2011 TSUN shenanigans and arguments (off season)

what the players did gave them no competitive advantage, we all know that. The competitive advantage came after the cover up which allowed probable players to be able to play after the fact they would have probably been suspended for breaking NCAA rules. That's where the competitive advantage comes in to play. Case in point, osu doesn't win the Sugar Bowl without 5 starters.

True, but that argument still does not raise to the level of cheating that SMU displayed.

And if we follow that "competitive logic" argument down the rabbit hole we would see the following:

If Tressel had gone to compliance when he received the email and the wrongdoing revealed then, the Tat 5 would have been suspended for the first 3 games of 2010 (2 games of the suspension were for lying to school officials)

In either case they all would have been on the sidelines when we played last November.

The NCAA cleared them for the Sugar.

Had the "cover up" not taken place, they'd have been suspended the first five games, so we'd have still beat the shit out of TSUN, as usual.

Too busy on the Tulsa boards claiming they had to have paid three star recruits to go there instead of TSUN.

True.

The amount of unfair competitive advantage they have had to overcome the past 4-5 years is astounding.

Good thing for them Indiana doesn't cheat so much.

This would have more push if the NCAA had not been aware of the violations and rule that the Tat5 were eligible for the Sugar Bowl.

Now, that said, I agree that the NCAA's ruling that the players were ineligible but not ineligible was plain stupid, but that said it would have been equally stupid to not play eligible players.

You might argue "The NCAA wouldn't have let them play if they had known how deep the rabbit hole went" and I'd say ... maybe... Of course, you could say that about any violations after the fact... Would Reggie Bush have played in any games if the NCAA had known? Would Cam Newton? Craig James? Etc..

Speaking of the "what if an ineligible player didn't play" game how do our friends from up north like their chances in 1997 without Charles Woodson?

It would've been either 4 or 5 games if the story broke before the 2010 season. Breaking the rule was worth 4, not coming clean after compliance clarified the rule (rather than lying about it after being caught) was the reason for the 1 additional game.

OSU names Happy Gilmore as interim head coach

With The Vest having been gone some four days now, it's time to start making fun of Ohio State's [strike]place-holder-until-they-beg-Urban-Meyer[/strike] interim coach, Luke Fickell.

Now, we could go into great detail about Fickell's past and coaching experience, but why bother? OSU fans don't want him coaching there any longer than he has to. Hell, even Luke Fickell probably hopes Urban Meyer becomes Ohio State's next permanent coach.

But we did notice one thing we had to mention. Is it just us or does Fickell look a hell of a lot like The Waterboy?

One is a major movie star, the other will probably end up being a wedding singer in 3 years

:osu:

So michigan just called Fickell the most feared thing on the football field for South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs?

I'll take it

What is really sad for ND fans is that Charlie could have recruited "thugs" like Navy does and won. He was above cheating tho...well, in college anyway.

People close to the situation in Annapolis can tell you horror stories. Sloppy corners on the bed folds, half polished shoes, lights on past 9...its fucking off the hook.
