2011 TSUN shenanigans and arguments (off season)

There is an ass kicking coming in November. Believe that.

They can take their shots. The team trying to get a COMPETITIVE advantage by cheating was UM. I'm not condoning what has gone on at OSU, trust me, but UM was cheating to try and get better on the field.

Big difference. Especially when they STILL ended up looking like [Mark May] after they cheated.

Do you guys actually read what you post? You don't get a competitive advantage by having the best athletes come to a school because of the perks?

SMU comes to mind, yet stretching for 30 mins and extra weight lifting look out.

I am not going to take any shots, because I do not believe the charges by SI are all true. I think Tressel just learned to look the other way, I believe it runs a little deeper than Tressel. Tressel was just the fall guy.

In our case the kids had to work their asses off first to even have something to sell. We don't give out gold pants as a signing bonus.

So you're saying the players knew before they committed to Ohio State that they would be able to get "perks"? If that's the case......I wonder 2 things.

1. Why do we ever lose recruiting battles? We're obviously the only school that cheats......ESPN will tell you that. It's hard to believe all of these high school kids who aren't in the greatest financial situations would be able to turn OSU down with all these "perks" that they can't get elsewhere.
2. Why didn't the players with both OSU & Michigan offers ever rat OSU out? Obviously a kid with both offers was told on his recruiting visit that he could get "perks". Why not drop a dime on the school that is basically buying players with "perks" and then kicking your ass year after year?

So

Giving recruits money and cars to sign with a school(SMU)=Existing athletes already at a school selling selling some of the stuff they have been given for some the deals on tats and maybe cash(OSU)

BRILLIANT!!!

Glad to see the UM education is serving you well.

Get ready for some the scarlet-iest of scarlet glasses here, but if anything, doesn't this whole thing prove OSU doesn't cheat? If a player could walk up and receive a "perk" from a booster anytime they wanted in Columbus, then they wouldn't really need to sell their personal property for petty cash, would they?

"Give my son 180,000 and he'll play here" THAT sounds like SMU...

I'm not excusing Ohio State's problems here, but it is high time the SMU comparisons stop. What's going on at Ohio State will be dealt with but if you're waiting for the death penalty you're A) a moron and B) going to be a disappointed moron come November (or whenever the NCAA rules after the August hearing).

Or... at least do some fucking research and find out exactly what SMU did to get the death penalty. It wasn't just that they fucked around paying players...

SMU comes to mind,SAAAAAWWWWIIIIIINNNGGG AND A MISS! yet stretching for 30 mins and extra weight lifting look out.Yes an actual violation by the school is still considered a violation.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH Tressel was just the fall guy.

what the players did gave them no competitive advantage, we all know that. The competitive advantage came after the cover up which allowed probable players to be able to play after the fact they would have probably been suspended for breaking NCAA rules. That's where the competitive advantage comes in to play. Case in point, osu doesn't win the Sugar Bowl without 5 starters.

QFT. scUM fans are looking for any excuse available to try to justify one win in the last ten games against OSU.

Shouldn't you be on the Toledo board whining about their unfair competitive advantage?

Exactly.

The SMU comparison (one of the most elaborate pay for play schemes in college athletics) was a petty attempt by an irrational scum fan trying to compare apples and oranges to make himself feel better. Pathetic really.
