Tom's credibility has taken a huge hit with all of his flip flopping. In the past, it was primarily outsiders (and those within the walls of Ann Arbor) who saw through his act. Happening more and more over there. Beav's garbage works when things are going well, but when things start to slide, people seem to see through his bull[Mark May] and call him on it. They've gotten all lathered up the past two Septembers after quick starts despite the signs there were serious issues. Anybody with half a brain could see they would struggle once they hit the B10 schedule, but they thought they had "arrived".
