ah Rich Rod, the gift that keeps on giving.
Is this the same Rich Rod who wasn't given the support of the alumni and boosters and that's why he failed?

Newsflash....this happened before Rich Rod, during Rich Rod, and after Rich Rod. He was great to watch fail, but this isn't a failure that can be limited to him.

Michigan assured Terrelle that his teammate from high school would be given an athletic scholarship to Michigan

This deal clearly fell through when Rich Rod expressed his desire to use said teammate at Offensive tackle

considering UM was not recruiting TP until RR was hired, then yes, the possible improper recruiting of TP falls on him. Which was what my comment was in regards to.

Neither was highly rated a a recruit and neither was in the projected two deep. This does not parallel what happened under RR.

The offensive line is depleted in terms of recruiting. Losing Posada will hurt the depth chart. But there are also claims that he showed up to camp 40lbs heavier than what he told coaches. YIKES.

UM is going to have to do some serious OL recruiting.

Not saying the reports are false, but it sure as hell sounds like the old "he is fat and lazy and we didn't need him anyway because we only care about those who stay" cry we abundantly heard during the mass exodous under the DickRod regime.

Also, if I remember correctly, Posada was "undersized" (i.e. the perfect DickRod OL propspect) when he was originally recruited, so the extra weight probably meant he was more in line with traditional B1G linemen.

Whatever. Those who stay will be mediocre. Go Blow.

Maybe the kid just wanted to go home, who knows. I wish him luck in whatever he does.

His recruiting profile says 310. I don't think that's to undersized. But if he showed up weighing 350, then dang. BUT, I don't think anyone has released a statement as to the "why" yet, so for now, it's all speculation. Whatever the story, good luck to him.

and I never said we didn't need him. That's actually the opposite of what I said.

Actually, they were. DickRod's arrival just made them more interesting.

Of course it did.......new coach trying to make a big splash, or the old veteran who still handed the ball off 30 times a game. So I stand by my statement of opinion that if anything shady was going on with TP's recruitment falls at RR's feet.

Sorry, Mike...but look, I'm all for bashing DickRod, but this is just excuse mongering. Maybe it's true, but seems an awful lot like trying to pin the excuse on the donkey. scUM was recruiting TP from the start, to think that any illicit doings magically starting happening ONLY in the 4 weeks after rr came on board to the infamous aa visit it a little naive, my IMO.

RR offered a ton of package deals. Many were questionable, this one was not.

As far as illegal benefits, my favorite part is when Tom Beaver revises history to claim that Pryor's clan had their hand out during the visit and that was the end of that.

Whar actually happened:

RR kept recruiting Pryor for months after that visit, including right before he signed. Beaver reported this regularly, as you can imagine.

Charlie Batch, Pryor's mentor on the trip, told UM on the visit that he wasn't coming. Beaver was still posting 50/50 on their board.

Tony Clemons knew it too as his Pittsburgh friend and host on the visit. still 50/50.

Pryor was texting Brewster mid visit that he hated AA and it was dirty. Nevada posted that shortly afterwards on scout, which naturally got back to the UM boards. Still 50/50.

Finally once the visit was over and it was clearly still OSU out in front, finally Beaver posted shady side of 50%, but the UM staff still felt like they had a good shot.

If Pryor had his hand out, they would have figured this out long before the last few weeks before signing day, especially since Pryor was initially a Big East commitment to Pitt.

Either Pryor didn't ask for gifts, or Michigan was willing to oblige also.
