2011 Projected Starting Line-up

I will bet money Sweat is not the SLB next year. He will be the WLB or MLB!! MY guess is WLB looked great when Homan was out this year!!

exactly..people keep listing him as the strong side for next year, fact of the matter is hes our best linebacker going into next year and they're going to want him on the field every down. Mike or Will...id guess Will.

The WR's (sans Posey) I believe will be Brown, Fields in the slot, and Williams. With the sudden discovery at tOSU that Te's are allowed to catch the ball AND run, I think we will be fine at the wr spot. Although I hope Louis, Jackson, the incoming wr's and Schwartz (he'll be a sr right?) push those three like crazy. Comp is good.

Story is raw and is new to the wr spot according to several reports. Not saying its impossible but he'll take some time to change from athlete to wide receiver. If a newbie makes the jump I think it will be Spencer. Having a coach at home is a huge advantage on learning proper footwork and route trees.

I don't know about Louis over Williams. Big Ty actually was the one who I heard praises about in the bowl prep. Plus if you?re breaking in a new QB a 6'7 target is much easier to hit. Moon balls his direction become great plays.

Devin Smith might come in and move ahead of guys like Louis, Jackson, and williams. Have a gut feeling about it, kid's complete!

IMO, I think Evan Spencer will come in and get some early playing time. When your dad is a coach in the NFL, you will learn alot more then the average kid.

I think Berry and Rod Smith get the first looks at RB. I love Hall's agility just wish he had more open field speed.

Guiton and Miller should have the inside track. Tressel also said that he plans not to redshirt Miller, so if that's the plan then that means he'll play at least at some points in the first 5 games.

Corey Brown will the only sure starting reciever that seperated himself from the crowd last year. Not sure how this line-up will look until the season rolls around. Not a lot of experience here.

I love the combination of Berry and Smith. I hope I see them alot.

Can't see Braxton redshirting. If he were, it wouldn't make sense for him to enroll early.
Whoever it is to start the season, it needs to be someone who can make plays with his arm and feet.
To be sure, Braxton has only competed against high school defenses to this point, but I haven't seen a combination of the quick release and accuracy of his arm since Troy's senior season.
He doesn't look to be quite as fast as TP, but he looks to be more quick and elusive.
It would not shock me a bit to see him starting September 3rd.
We can win with any of our quarterbacks the first two games, but we need to have someone in place by Miami.

doug lesmerises doesnt come out and give an exact depth chart but he talks about what you can expect

Columbus ? At least 14 of the 22 Ohio State starters from the Sugar Bowl won?t be on the field when the Buckeyes open the 2011 season on Sept. 3 against Akron. The Buckeyes have gone through this before ? after the 2005 season ended at 10-2 with a Fiesta Bowl win, for instance, Ohio State lost five players to the first round of the NFL Draft and 12 starters overall, including nine on defense, and then opened the 2006 season No. 1 and ran through the regular season undefeated to reach the national title game.
With the suspension of five players ? including quarterback Terrelle Pryor and three other offensive starters ? for the first five games of the regular season, spring practice, preseason practice and the start of the regular season will be more complicated. Ohio State announced Saturday that the school would like the NCAA to hear its appeal of the suspensions on a conference call that will include the players. Regardless, those players may take part in all off-season activities.

QB: Guiton
RB: Jordan Hall
FB: Boren
WR: C. Brown
WR: Ty Williams
TE: Stoneburner
LT: Norwell
LG: Mewhort (doubt he'll start, but Underwood seems like a candidate for the 2-deep)
C: Brewster
RG: M. Hall
RT: Shugarts (he's not switching this late in his career)

DE/DT: Simon
DT: Bellamy
NT: Hankins
LEO: Williams
OLB: Sweat
MLB: Sabino
OLB: Bell
CB: T. Howard
CB: Roby (so much upside, imagine having two 6'1"+ corners...)
FS: Bryant
SS: Barnett (pending recovery, Johnson otherwise)
Star: Moeller

The secondary unit goes from being the 2010 weakest link thanks to injuries, to the 2011 deepest unit thanks to the 2010 injuries.

Significant experience in the secondary went to:

Barnett, Johnson, Bryant, Moeller, Howard, Clarke

Expected talent to contribute: D. Allen, D. Grant, C. Brown, B. Roby, J. Cash, R. Tanner (redshirt?)

Whoever gets the 3rd DE slot (Goebel, Hayes, Miller, Durham) will have a lot of reps in the first 5 games. I think that in many circumstances on passing downs, Hankins will be out and then Simon, Bellamy, Williams and whoever else will be the four man rush.

Wide reciever is another enigma. It may be a weakness in game 1, but a strength by game 5. James Loius, Ty Williams, Spencer, D. Smith all seem like quality freshmen prospects.

I would not be surprised to see R. Smith be our starting RB. He has the size, power and speed that JT loves in a RB. We will need a bruiser next year. Regardless, we will be in good hands to great hands with either Smith, Berry or Hall, imo.

Fellows should see a lot of playing time at DE I would think. Moore is also another possibility who will compete for playing time.

We need Berry and Smith back there.

And Hyde and Hall...

One thing I'm not going to say this year is that we need any one of those guys playing more. Each of them has some pretty obvious talent so I'll do the proverbial 'trust the coaches' on this one and be happy with whatever playing time the coaches deem appropriate.

He was the one who took over at the WILL spot while Homan was down and that position actually fits his skill set and comes more naturally to him. With that said, if we really want to get our 3 best Linebackers on the field at the same time, then how could Storm Klein not be on the field? I believe he is the heir apparent at the MLB spot with Sabino playing the SLB position.

given rumblings about Bell (see rumor mill), I would not be surprised to see Sabino on the strong side, Klein in the middle, and Sweat on the weak side at the start of the season

then again, Sabino might get the nod in the middle so that he sees the field more often... especially since he took one for the team by taking a redshirt and I am sure the coaches will keep that in mind
