I don't know that it's been posted, but here is what the consensus looks like.

My thoughts - worthless as they may be - in parens:

8 Nebraska (Perhaps a bit too high I think. I'm betting that they'll have some things to learn about playing in the B1G. Still have significant questions on offense and a train wreck of a head coach. @Wisconsin is probably their toughest road game of the year, but a pretty favorable schedule.)

You can argue whether they're too high or not - not going to try to argue that point with you. As for "train wreck of a head coach" I think most will disagree. But "a pretty favorable schedule?" Really? Most sports writers have pointed out how the "welcome to the B1G" schedule we were given is quite grueling. In addition to the 5 games in-division including Michigan State, Iowa and TSUN, and our designated cross-division rival Penn State, our other two cross-division games the next 2 years are tOSU & Wisconsin; giving us arguably the toughest schedule in the B1G. In two years, when we swap out tOSU and Wisconsin for the likes of Illinois, Indiana or Purdue - then you can talk about a "pretty favorable schedule."

OK.

Here's the thing about your schedule this year though. You guys get OSU, Sparty and Iowa at home and Memorial Stadium is a tough place for opponents to play.

Of your road games @Wisconsin, @PennState and @Michigan (we'll ignore @Wyoming and @Minnesota), the only one that looks truly daunting is Wisconsin.

Anyone in the B10 has a tough schedule, no matter what, but relatively speaking, you guys got a pretty good draw this year with only one tough road game. That's why I say you have a 'pretty favorable schedule'.

Even so, OSU, Sparty and maybe even Michigan or Penn State will be tests. But you guys have 3/4's (running game, defense, special teams) of a very good team. A 10 or 11 win year isn't out of the question. Hell, discover the forward pass and beat Wisconsin and anything could happen.

Regarding Pelini, he looks to me as if he's one blown call away from assaulting a referee or just one interception away from choking a quarterback. The man has issues.

Don't sweat it. SEC fans are bound by oath to think that every Big Ten schedule is dogmeat.

  1. "Anyone in the B10 has a tough schedule." Well, maybe so, but not everyone has to play all three of the toughest half of the opposing division and none of the bottom half. As an example, Iowa avoids playing either tOSU or Wiscy this year. That's my point.
  2. You're certainly entitled to your opinion about Pelini. My opinion is that you're way overstating things. And I'll note for the record he's within the winningest 15 active D1 coaches by percentage record, Miami apparently went after him for their open spot before he said he wasn't interested, and the LSU boards all want him back should Les Miles go anywhere. Has he had some outbursts that were embarrassing - sure. But again, MY opinion is that YOUR opinion is way overstated.

Haha! That's right, the SEC has the only tough schedules, even though they pad them by playing most of their non-con games against the likes of The Citadel or similar.

EDIT: Wait, the Gators used to play The Citadel. Sorry, they've replaced them with Furman - along with UAB and Florida Atlantic.

I've lived in the Dallas area for over 30 years, and I confess I didn't know "Texas A&M at Arlington" here in the metroplex even HAD a football team, but apparently Arkansas is playing them this fall!
