The difference is that golf is an individual sport. So, much like tennis, racing, etc its better when there is someone both to root for or against. In team sports we already have our allegiences...those teams will be around more than one careers length.

A guy starts the day 4 shots up on the field, looks like a ho hum final round. Three hours later nine players are bunched together at the top and he's not one of them. This could end up being a relatively large playoff.

If think you need Tiger to make this entertaining, then maybe golf just isn't for you. I think this is an entertaining finish even with Woods already in the clubhouse. I'd be glued to it if it weren't for the Reds game and my lack of PIP.
