2011 In-state Players to Watch

Is this a place to list offers for kids that don't have threads? If so, will a mod delete this post...

Yeah...we usually keep the threads for kids with mutual interest in/from OSU, however we create threads on random Ohio kids all the time, but we obviously can't get to them all. These "watch" threads started as a place to list offers and commitments for kids that we don't have threads on...

In-State next year looks to be big time...

I hate to get to excited till offers start coming in, and we are in on some guys out of state, so we probably won't offer everyone that we could next season...

but we already have offers out to dePriest, Miller, Miller, and Grant will be an early one as well probably...

I guess it is early to call it big time...but 3 of those I would label as kids that could be 5 stars with Miller, Miller, and Grant. all of them have big time offers already...

Not real sure outside of that but Rock, Hayes, and then there are others that names are out there already and no threads...

Rock and Hayes (Kenny and Jesse) both have threads. I assume you are referring to other names, because that last sentence wasn't clear to me. Would be interested in the names.

Just checked. There are several verbal offers so far for this class.

DePriest
Miller
Miller
Williams
Moore
Vaughters
Koyack

This is got to be the record for number of verbal offers. I'll be pretty happy if we get DePriest, the Millers (yes, I know they are not related) and Koyack from the list. On the other hand, I hope the staff doesn't delay the September 1 offer mail.

Yeah I didn't mean those 3 didn't have threads, but there are other names of instate guys, that aren't ready for threads yet, but will put their name in for schoolies...

And I just kept it to instate guys as this is instate thread...

Sneak Preview Of 2011 Top Prospects | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

Posted by Mark Porter on Aug 17, 2009 at 06:28 pm

We continue taking a look ahead to the recruiting class of 2011 today with a sneak peek at two top juniors from Northwest Ohio.

Fremont Ross DB/WR Greg Brown burst onto the scene this summer when he picked up a scholarship offer from Michigan. (Michigan State has also offered since then)

Toledo St. John's DB/WR Eddie Norrils may be a familiar name to Buckeye basketball fans. Norrils played for the All Ohio Red AAU basketball team with future Buckeye Aaron Craft this summer. In fact, Norrils has only been practicing football for a few weeks because of the run his AAU team made to the championship.

I had a chance to check out both of these 2011 prospects when they faced off in a scrimmage Friday night in Fremont, Ohio. With both players already landing in Bill Kurelic's top 20 prospects in 2011, I was very interested to see these prospects in this early stage of their development.

Ohio 2011 Prospects

Ohio Top 10 2011 Prospects To Watch

#1. Braxton Miller/ATH/Wayne
- This phenom can play either safety, WR, or QB for all the major D1 powers that WILL offer him.

#2. A.J. Jordan/WR/Madison
- A 6'2" burner with a great football IQ. Already a great route runner as a Sophomore.

#3 Steve Miller/DE/Mckinley
- A young DE with a great frame and all the tools to be a terror off the corner at a major D1 program.

#4. Shane Wynn/ATH/Glenville
- A smallish(5'8") athlete from the Glenville powerhouse. Wynn may be small but he's the most dynamic athlete in '11 Ohio football.

#5. Doran Grant/CB/St.Vincent-St.Mary
- A 6'0" corner with excellent hips. Also, already has the speed(4.43 hand timed) to burn.

#6. Chris Rock/TE/St.Francis
- A 6'5" TE with hands and a mean streak to boot. A red zone terror.

#7. Jarrett Grace/LB/Colerain
- A big LB prospect that could grow into a DE. Fierce is the word when his power/speed meet up.

#8. Ed Killingsworth/WR/Harding
- A 6'3" WR that has good ball skills and superior speed. Will be a national recruit if he plays well on his varsity team.

#9. Patrick Coyne/QB/Stephen T. Badin
- The measurables and arm of a stud QB prospect. Also, has good pocket presence w/ a little speed(4.7/40). I believe he will be in the top 3 after getting a chance to play regularly. Won underclassman MVP at the most recent Cincinnati Scout Combine. Also, won MVP at the Indianapolis area NUC event.

#10. Robert Walton Jr./RB/Glenville
- A power back w/ pretty good straight line speed. Has the potential to climb on this list as he matures.

Others to watch:
Myles Hicks/QB/Northland
Darien Bryant/WR/Reynoldsburg
Trey DePriest/LB/Springfield
Steven Daniels/LB/St.Xavier
Rico Butler/RB/Davidson
Chris Phillips/LB/Monroeville

Think Walker, the linemen from Glenville, gets an offer?

Like Hodge said, I think the staff will probably want to see some film/games...OL is one of the toughest positions to project looking solely at measurables.
