kinda pissed about the Halo CE remake, I was looking really forward to it til I found out the multiplayer is just Reach but with 7 maps from CE. So it's not gonna be the Halo CE we all know and love.
:pissed: Halo CE absolutely destroys all successive Halo games. The only thing it lacked was current graphics. There was actual precision shooting with the pistol, sniper and other weapons, it wasn't a two-handed spray fest of bullets.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is releasing on November 15 this year.

"and seemed to add more recent innovations to the classic game".... you mean ruin it.
It's an expansion to Reach essentially, it should be priced as such.
So we're looking at a similar thing to ODST then? Similarly overpriced I'd wager.
That's an absolutely god awful time to re-release it.

They're mad
I really hope it doesn't feel like a Reach expansion. As soon as i saw the awful assassination animations and Reach style weapons, i felt a little concerned. I hope this remake nails the player feel and physics of Halo CE. Running speed, jump height and map design were all perfect. There was no "press LB to activate jetpack because you're lazy/bad and can't jump up/around scenery". Bottom line is for Microsoft to LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE. Don't innovate. Don't improve. Just remake the same game.

And make it half price while you're at it. It definitely wont be worth the full ?40 price tag. But I'd happily pay ?20-?25 for it.

The new Nintendo controller is HUGE.

Yes, it has it's own screen, and is in essence it's own game machine. Yet I am not sure how well it will catch on. I certainly would not use it for the majority of games.

edit: While the new controller looks like a gimmick, Nintendo certainly looks to be re focusing on the hard core gamer crowd. Of course new hardware, more advanced than the competition, will do that.

Although there is one cool thing about the controller. Now you no longer will have on screen play selection for sports games.

Nintendo Wii U controller, first hands-on! (video)
We just elbowed our way through the crowds and managed to get our first hands-on time with Nintendo's revolutionary new controller, the Wii U. As you can see in the images, it's a rather different thing than even the company's typically unusually styled contraptions. The dominant feature is the center-mounted 6.2-inch touchscreen, which actually looks really good. We'd expected Nintendo would cheap out to keep costs low, but that doesn't appear to be the case, at least not in our first impressions. Join us after the break for more details.
Nintendo's new console, the Wii U, was finally unveiled to the world today at E3 2011, and we got a glimpse of its graphical prowess at the company's keynote. Details were scarce about the IBM silicon Nintendo's new HD powerhouse was packing, but we did some digging to get a little more info. IBM tells us that within the Wii U there's a 45nm custom chip with "a lot" of embedded DRAM. It's a silicon on insulator design and packs the same processor technology found in Watson, the supercomputer that bested a couple of meatbags on Jeopardy awhile back. Unfortunately, IBM wouldn't give us the chip's clock speeds

Sadly we weren't able to get our hands-on the new console that's going to come along with the Wii U controller. Every operational unit is clad in shimmering Lucite and locked away. But, from what we can see peering through the glass it's more or less a curvaceous Wii. It's a little bit chubbier, maybe a hint taller, but the design is much the same: glossy white and a big disc slot.

Nintendo marriage of console + handheld, attempt number three. Other than HD'ifying the Wii to bring it up to current gen standards, I'm not seeing why Nintendo is trying this again.

The Wii already had the capability of pairing with a DS to allow the DS to be a controller. Now, this certainly makes business sense when your primary earner is selling $5 peripherals for $60-70, but I had always envisioned a better strategy where Nintendo should have leveraged the DS as the primary controller, thus shoehorning people into buying DSes.

It was announced that the new Wii U will only support 1 Wiipad (or whatever you want to call it) per console. So the stuff I thought could be done in same tv multiplayer (like playcalls for football) is not true. This is just getting worse for Nintendo. They have stated they are researching using more than 1, but for right now, it's only 1 per console.

With Halo CE they explained that the multiplayer will run on the Reach engine while the campaign will run on the old "true" engine from Halo CE. So I'm wondering will you be able to play the 7 maps that it ships with off the main disc that the campaign is on or will it require the Reach disc for multiplayer. They say that if you already own Reach you will be able to bring the new 7 maps over to your Reach gaming just as you would DLC. But whatever, Halo CE was the game that started it all for me.

Also looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Mass Effect 3.
I am of course freaking out about Halo 4 but am not allowing myself to think to much about it as I might experience Halo overload. :)

Also look me up Halo nation, playing mucho Reach right now.
Gamer tag is: Its Shack
I also play on: Shacks the name

and the Wii will use an ATI 4000 series GPU. Come on Nintendo, the 4000 series are not DirectX11 compliant. You can damn well bet the next Sony and Microsoft consoles will be DirectX 11 compliant. So now you are forcing developers to do more work to develop games for your platform, and it's not like the 5000 series GPU's are that expensive. Especially by the time you launch your console.

Congrats Nintendo. Sadly I hate it when they come out with a crap console (like the Gamecube) because they make some of the best games in the industry.

Well, at least graphically there won't be a huge chasm between graphics like now. Sure, Sony and Microsoft will probably have ATI 7000 or NVidia 6 series GPUs (next gen). They will look really nice, especially with the stuff DX11 can do. Yet Nintendo will at least have similar resolutions. Sort of like the difference between computers and consoles right now. Yes, computer games today (at least ones made for computers) look much better than today's consoles, but it's not as big a difference as the Wii to the other consoles.

So true.

I've been playing Mario & Mario 3 on NES, and last night was crushing some Mario World on SNES. I bought the Wii for the Super Mario Brothers Wii and was happy to have it when Donkey Kong Country came out.

Bring back Battletoads & Starfox to the Wii & I would never pick up the PS3 again.

Too bad really.. can't even play a CD on the Wii but my PS3 can stream 1080p movies & recorded TV from the media center in my basement.
