Last year's had 12 players and 2 coaches, so I'd expect about the same this year. They also seem to try to avoid putting in 2 guys from the same school in together.

Nice to see Will Shields finally make it into the Hall. Long overdue.


My Will Shields "brush with greatness" goes like this: Several years ago while I was volunteering at the local soup kitchen we got a call just as we started making the main course for that night's meal. Will Shields' mom had cooked the food for their Homecoming tailgate that day and they had a lot of leftover food. They brought in enough beans and rice to feed 130-140 people that night, plus so many leftovers that we took to the City Mission that they said, "Thanks, but that's all we need." So the rest of it went home with the volunteers in every piece of tupperware we could fill. I ate that stuff for a week at least, and it was fantastic. Will's mom is a great cook.

Coaching at a major powerhouse for a decade or so does wonders for your chances. I wouldn't raise too much hell over it. See: Earle Bruce, John Cooper.

I wasn't raising any hell. Just surprised, and no less than regarding Bruce and Cooper. Time and placement apparently is all that matters.
