2011 Captains - Poll and a Contest

Meh. What the hell? Why not make everyone a captain? Everyone go out there and pick the coin toss.

Sad day this shows a lack of leadership from the staff!! I believe this will be the first time in school history OSU didn't have at least one real captain. This is all about the tat5 let's honor them by all means. We have guys that have done thing the right way all 4 years so let?s dishonor them at the same time. SAD!!

Boom is an undeniable captain when you watch practice. this was a no win situation for Luke.

and no, the tat 5 do not deserve to be kicked off the team for incredibly common behavior. they got what they deserved, and this would've been a minor blip had Tressel reported it. much like with aj green.

Herbstreit is quite lucky he doesn't have to show his face at the captains banquet with Brewster. Perhaps Luke will award him that honor by the end, particularly with his ever unselfish behavior in embracing the weird captain system that left him out of the honor.

I think Fickell is doing two things..since he hasn't been HC for long ....1) Make no mistake I am the leader and want the team to listen to one voice and follow me...not Players...2) He wants everyone to have ownership in this season Team Ownership..not how many touches or minutes a player gets...not about individual circumstances..all about team. I think he feels the team lost some of this during the TP era..maybe JT being to protective of TP instead of holding him more accountable..

It's not about honor and dishonor, its about cultivating leadership and responsibility at all levels on the team.

I fail to see how it shows a lack of leadership on behalf of Fickell and the coaching staff. Just because it's something different than what has been done in the past, doesn't mean its a lack of leadership or bad.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this. It is an honor to be a captain in most peoples books I would think. Doing the right thing is a big part of being a leader.

Incredibly common behavior? For a few maybe but most try to follow the rules I would think.

These suspensions are just another reason Luke may have for not naming captains...hes not sure who he can trust off the field..on the field all these players play hard and smart..off the field not so much...

Could HAVE sworn during his Akron week presser Luke said he may name captains down the road.. let's wait and see, I think Brewster will still get the "honor"... he does deserve it too - as does Tyler. (In my IMO)

If true, I like rewarding players that did well the week before. They showed leadership on the field of play. It's hard to argue with these picks. The only other player that would be deserving for this week would be Stoney.
