2011 Big Ten-ACC challenge (B1G 8, ACC 4)

Wake Forest is a bad basketball team, they lost to Arizona State by almost 30 points. ASU has lost to Pepperdine and new Mexico at home and to Fairfield in the Old Spice Classic.

Sorry. I wasn't commenting on the state of Wake ball as much as 'Husker. Losing to Oregon at home is not a good thing.

The catch-22 is that Wisconsin will never get big time recruits running that offense, so they have very likely peaked under Bo Ryan.

Wisky will never get big time recruits running ANY offense. As in football they do an outstanding job with what is available to them. It's Wisconsin.

And for basketball that means Wisconsin in January. And I know none of you have ever been to Wisconsin in January because you can't get to Wisconsin in January.

I would like to apologize in advance to the B1G for NU basketball. I'm beside myself with this loss. Been following NU hoops for a loooong time and I think I've snapped.

NU will rise up and win a few games they're not supposed to this year. They'll play hard. But most of their games will be 50 point slugfest with no go-to scorer in the final minutes.

The Wake Forest game last night was a model example of NU bball fans frustration.

Just realized we have a "UM" type problem with Nebraska. On first read I couldn't understand why a Husker fan was apologizing for Northwestern basketball.

That said, the Big Ten is a rising sea. Your ship will rise as well.

It's not THAT they lost it's HOW they lost. Not covering a player and giving him a wide open layup to end the game. Your big man had an opportunity to put the man and the ball on the floor and make Wake Forest earn the win at the line. Instead he just let him score.

So the balmy tropical environs of Kansas and Connecticut are why KU & UConn attract top talent year after year?

I had no idea that they had such a great home record against non-conference teams. Then I heard that they lost to Oregon at home this year, and I didn't expect them to win against Wake. Could be a long year for 'Husker hoops.

Their non conference record is so good because for the last 3 years they have filled it with RPI 300+ teams to pad their win total.

Doc Sadler's teams play hard, and usually play great defense, but they have never been able to recruit difference makers. When you play in leagues like the Big XII-2-1-1+2 and the B1G, games usually come down to the last 5 minutes and whoever has more difference makers usually wins.

i have to be honest, bucky... i think it would be a little frustrating to watch the same deliberate, consistent, but unexciting offense each season. there is no denying the reliable top third finishes in the big ten, but don't you feel like there will always be limits as to what ryan's teams can do?

I feel like I've read this is in the Jim Bollman thread about 1,000 times...
