2011-2012 Men's Buckeye Basketball (Final Four Season)

The basketball ticketing system is ridiculous. On November 1st I will purchase two tickets for the Jackson State game on November 18th. I guarantee that I will have nosebleed seats. I can also guarantee that there will be thousands of empty seats that are much better.

7% of the tickets go to students...that's pretty pathetic

What's the board's opinion on whether they can, or will, be better than last year's version? I miss Diebler already, but I'm glad he came out to Portland! (I live in Salem, OR)

A quick hoops preview, and some more patting-of-the back for Jared Sullinger...

I think this year's team will be better than last year's team but will have a similar record. Should be about 35-5.

To me, if Matta keeps Deisel's minutes to about 28 or maybe even a bit less, and uses his deep bench, we can be the best team un the country.

The 2 x-factors..........Ravenel & Sibert. We know what we're going to get from the core4, but if Shannon is solid (doesn't have to be spectacular), and Amir plays with passion and hustle, I think our success could come down to Sibert being able to be the "other" perimeter threat as far as knocking down 3's and Ravenel banging around inside and fouling hard, crashing the boards, taking charges, and setting hard screens.

Those 2 have the potential to be very solid role players and put us over the top. I would really like to see Thomas held to about 28 mins, and Williams and Ravenel split about 20 mins combined. There's 80 post minutes total, that leaves Sully his 32.

Why? This needs explaining.

I just feel that Deshaun is better in spurts where he can play hard for 4 min segments.

Also, I don't like him at the 3 and we are small with him at the 4 and Sully at the 5 but I think that's our best line-up.

Thomas will be most affective when Sully is taking his rest and Amir or Ravenel are down low with him. The O will then feed through him in the post and he'll always be a threat with his jumper.

I like Deshaun's game but I believe he fits our team as a role player (I know, everybody is a role player) this season before breaking out as a 15-20ppg player as a Jr and Sr.

I think about 13.5 ppg and 7.0 rebs on 50% FG and 38-40% 3's are reasonable projected numbers for Deshaun this season in about 28 mins.

I now believe he is a 4 year player. Before last season, I thought he was closer to a 1&done than a 4 yr player. This is mainly due to him being a tweener at both levels. He definitely couldn't gaurd an NBA SF and he would be small for an NBA PF,

Good news for Buckeye Nation.
