2010 Winter Olympics tidbits

I'm new to BP, but I'm a huge curling fan.

I figured if I said 'shot rock', 'hammer', 'draw', and 'double-takeout' somebody would say something. :wink2:

I figured you either really know your curling, or you've woven the most elaborate set of puns known to man.

I suspect you've somehow done both.

:p

Hell, they were lucky a bong wasn't being passed back and forth. You can't expect these guys to be camera-aware and censor themselves every waking minute. It was NBC's fault for feeling the need to stick their fucking camera into a private fucking conversation. It would have been different had the coach walked into a press conference and started dropping f-bombs.

Listening to White's coach swearing is less irritating than their broadcast of half-piper Kelly Clark just before leaving the starting gate. She has an ipod, and sings along, but has no vocal talent at all. They're doing her a disservice by airing that audio - it's atrocious.

He had the hammer in the 8th end today, up a point, laying shot rock, and could have made a normal draw to take a 3-point lead into the 9th end.

It seems CNBC and MSNBC are more about showing actual events while NBC is a smattering of events mixed among the human interest stories and personal interviews.

No wonder I spend most of my Olympic viewing time on CNBC and MSNBC. I'm just here to see the games.

It must be killing you to have to put it on those channels, Jake. :wink2:

I am a little surprised you didn't know that NBC uses it's other channels to broadcast "extended" Olympic coverage. They've been doing that for years now.. going back to.. 2002 or something. Sometimes you can find events on TNT as well. I use the "Guide" option, search for XXI Winter Olympics and pick my poison.

I'm with you. It is very hard to follow the actual sporting events going on when watching NBC. They jump around too much and spend waaay too much time on stories and interviews. I don't care to see what Wayne Gretzky was thinking when the caldron didn't rise for the 5th time this week. Just show me some skiing.
