Don't really want to get into all the names and post all the feedback from the prospects that have visited in June and July. Safe to say most all say the same thing, They were blown away and had a great visit, not only on the football tour but also on the academic tour. Over and over they all say how much they like the coaches and RR. These coaches work very hard and are doing a great job. To have 2 off years, and all the negative press and negative recruiting by other schools, and to still get all these quality prospects to visit says alot.

After Michigan wins and they will in the next few years, the sky will be the limit on getting top prospects to come to UM. We are so close to entering a place we have never been before as far as recruiting top players accross the board.

BTW just to say a little, Jake Fisher will announce what school he will attend Sunday night, anywhere but UM would be a surprise. Dee had a great visit, he is playing it cool, but still dropped all kinds of hints that he will be Blue.. He said he will be back soon, and his pal QB Nick Patti was blown away by the visit. OL Hobbi was also very impressed as was his family, and OL Bryant has been here 3 times now.

 what exactly are the signs that scUM (under Rich Rod) is "close" to being able to get "top prospects" across the board?

Hey Wyld were you being sarcastic to the troll saying that we can cut Grant off the list?

Nope, Michigan dont need a 5'9 corner, they may take 1 more CB, but he would have to be taller. Grant says he will visit UM this summer, but he also lists everyone else as a place he wants to visit also. He says his recruitment is wide open, and wants to start as a freshmen. His GPA is around (so he says) 2.7 - 2.8 and a SAT of 17-18, so I dont think he as of now can even qualify. When reading stories on him it's always about going here and there and wanting offers from this and that team, and never 1 word about academics. UM just dont need him, and I have not seen his name on any projected UM classes, nor have I heard of any UM coaches calling him or doing in school visits lately. Usually means they cut you loose.

Michigan has no interest in Jones, so yes he did NOT make the cut, Perhaps RR just offers Grendale kids to mess with sweatervest.. I would prefer we just boycott the school, like Lloyd did. Let those Ginn kids end up at second rate schools.

Of course with Miller still taking to the SEC, Georgia for one, Jones could be UOS backup plan as I'm sure sweater vest dont want to get burned like he did last year when he lost his 2 top targets. Miller is still very imature and it's a long time to NLOI day.

anyways who cares about UOS, were talking UM here, as this is a UM board for those who get easily lost

Drunk and 12 years old? In any case, he's obviously imature.

And, brimming with youthful optimism:

After Michigan wins and they will in the next few years, the sky will be the limit on getting top prospects to come to UM. We are so close to entering a place we have never been before as far as recruiting top players accross the board.
Hmmm. Wherever might this miraculous place be?

Ok... I was going to rip on this comment as ridiculous considering the talent gap we are all aware of at this point. But, I think what we've got here is clear evidence of part of the problem up there in whore-land.

This guy apparently has no idea that Michigan used to get top players across the board. This leads me to believe that while he might be aware of the 1997 1/2 championship, he has no idea what kind of talent Bo used to bring in to scUM.

I suppose it's a bit ironic that their problem under Carr was a unhealthy clinging to the "old guard" - that is, as much as we rip on all the BARWIS!!!!! stuff, the fact is, RR has brought their S&C program forward - but now, the problem stems from the young fans that don't seem to have any idea that 3-9 and 5-7 are not acceptable no matter "how close to dominating" you think you are.

What a clusterfuck.

Fiutak...

Best defensive player: Junior DE Ryan Van Bergen ? or senior CB Troy Woolfolk ? or sophomore FS Jordan Kovacs ? or ? ? The Wolverines have several decent players who could quickly make a turn into the star of the show. Van Bergen should be a natural as a 3-4 defensive end, Woolfolk has the tools to be a shut down corner, and Kouvacs will be an all-star if he can cover someone. LB Obi Ezeh was a burgeoning star a few years ago, but he struggled last year, linebacker Craig Roh should be a terror of a pass rusher, and nose tackle William Campbell might be the team?s best pro prospect because of his size. Either it means the defense has the potential to be great with so many above-average players

You know you're in trouble when preseason previews are mentioning your sophomore walk-on safety who spent most of the second half of the previous season chasing running backs from behind as they sprinted down the field as possibly your "best defensive player"...

Bingo. People always mention that UM's in trouble at safety b/c they're trotting out there a walk on sophomore, but what often gets neglected is that he had a really bad year last year--IMO, he's slow and he takes incredibly poor angles, which are not exactly traits you want your starting safety to have.

Not to mention the caveat of "if he can cover someone". Shouldn't being able to cover someone be required of a defensive back before being in the mix as a teams best defensive player?

Well someone has to be the best. It just means they are better than the others. Nobody on Michigan's defense can 'cover anyone'. They kind of just run around and hope the ball carrier ends up in their vicinity.

Wow - 17-18 on the SAT, which is out of 2400 really is low. Makes me think Wyld has not taken either the SAT or ACT.

This kid is a barely a 4 star on scout, a mid-three star on Rivals and not even ranked on ESPN.

Whoa there.... recruiting sites rank kids based on high school film this early. He camped at Michigan and went up against top recruits not run of the mill HS kids and was an animal. He earned his offer. I will trust what the coaches saw LIVE over ANY recruiting site.. He will go into a program with Barwis for 2 years and when he is needed will be ready.. He is a 4 star player all the way and will only go up the rankings.

 ive never seen a bunch of idiots get so hyped up over a strength and conditioning coach, one would pose the question when will the BARWIS!!!!!!11!! effect actually start working....they were out ran and out physicalled by freaking Indiana and Illinois last year for god sakes.

RIght now, I don't see any 5 star players with Michigan on their list. Dee Hart isn't listed as a 5 star player.

Actually 8 still have Michigan listed, the 2 best chances would be WR Sammy Watkins who JUST named Clemson, Miami and Michigan as his top 3. and his pal CB Crawford is very high on Michigan. Both will do an official visit this fall. DE Ray Drew also is possible because his pal S Walls likes us alot and is our # 1 target at S, as we will only take 1. Dee just may end up a 5* or very close next year. And you never know, could be a surprise coming... lalalalalala..

should i go on. RR has brought on Athletes as Michigan fans were not use to seeing on the feild at one time. There have been a lot of RR recruits that've stepped in big roles already for us as freshman. This year will tell if they have grown up. There will be big name recruits holding off until they see how UofM will fare this year. RR makes it to a bowl and wins that bowl game, you'll see the dominos start to fall with these kids. I dont think RR goes anywhere unless next year,if he still cant win with 18 returning starters all of whom will be junior and seniors

but conventional wisdom is that Boren was a fat, lazy ahole with a sense of entitlement because he was a "legacy". His Dad was a former Wolverine in the Bo days.

Maybe he pulled strings. Maybe he came and went whenever his Dad needed him to plow roads in the family business. Maybe not.

But push came to shove when RR was not interested in recruiting Little Bro Boren and the Boren fam assumed he would slide right in. Then RR and Barwis expected Boren to hit the new boot camp and increase his fitness level dramatically in order to fit the more mobile profile of an OL in RR's system.

Suddenly, there was a lack of "family values" in the new regime, and Boren took his pizza and left town.

the bitterness lives on

Kouvacs will be an all-star if he can cover someone

The Good:
Kouvacs has one skill. He lines up like a stand up defensive end and crashes, if you don't block him he's quick enough to get to the ball carrier and screw up a play.

The Bad:
Kouvacs is small and can be blocked by any number of players on your offense including TE's, FB's and even TB's. Sorry but if they can single block you with damn near anyone on the team and don't have to adjust blocking schemes for you, you aren't an all star defensive player.

The Ugly:
As anyone who's watched can attest, he goes from just neutral if blocked at all to being a complete liability in pass coverage.

So to paraphrase Woody, 3 things can happen to scUM's defense when Kouvacs is on the field and 2 of them are bad, but yeah he could be an all star. :roll1:
