What would have happened if Appy State wouldn't have accepted the millions of dollars you paid them to go up there and give you a Wet Back Martinez?

I don't know whether anyone considers the phrase "wet back martinez" to be condescending, degrading, or otherwise offensive, but I can tell you that there are a bunch of folks in my neck of the woods who find "Appy" State just a tad distasteful. Look, we took it to tsun fair and square; we did the three-peat without any help from y'all; we've got the only two-time Payton Award winner. Give us the respect we've earned. The PC Dictionary lists us as "Appalachian State," or "Appalachian" for short, or, if you must, "App State." But please, knock it off with this "Appy State" crap.

As far as I'm concerned the PC Dictionary can take its rightful place beside Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto in the dust bin of history.

They only got $400,000.

Note: the school pulled in $5 million for Saturday's home game alone in ticket sales and that's after cutting a check for $400,000 to Appalachian State.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite threads to read from a UM board:

The author titled it "Top 10 What-If plays of the last 15 years..."
Now the thread is more about UM's many choke jobs and fantasies, but that's just semantics...

and then some of the responses:

1. What if ...

2. What if ...

3. What if ...

4. What if ...

5. What if ...

6. What if ...

7. What if ...

:scum4::rofl:

My bad. Still, you pay someone hundreds of thousands of dollars to go up there and poop in your cheerios. Not only that, but people were saying 07 was scUM's year.:slappy:That's gotta suck. (is that less offensive?)

What if John Cooper turned us down? :sneaky:

Bob Stoops did, you may recall.

If I'm a coach on the up-and-coming list I'd have to stop and consider certain aspects of a Big 10 job:
A) Different set of academic standards than all but the Pac 10.
B) Conference run by presidents, not ADs.
C) Population shift.
D) Make too much money and the faculty will be on the warpath.

Each of those factors plays in to how attractive the job would be. Even a job at OSU, Michigan or Penn State.

RR didn't even consider the roster he was inheriting.
