A little off track of what this fine post was meant for but consider this for commentary on RR's coaching acumen;

If Payton Manning magically showed up tomorrow with 4 years of eligibility to offer, Dick Rod's offense couldn't use him. I don't know, maybe its just me but I think a guy has reached a pretty special place in the coaching world when his "offensive genius" would render Payton Manning pretty much useless.

Ok, back to being hard on the Beav.

discover that one of our new recruits is actually a highly touted star that we beat out elite programs for. How many 3 star nobodies that no decent program wanted is RR going to saddle this program with before he starts pulling in some elite talent?

We will take more 3 stars, at certain spots(QB & WR/SLOT) because we value speed, over size there.
I'll take a Gallon over T Clemmons.

I'll take a Shoelace, over Threet

I'll take a V Smith (type) over an A train (type) in this O.. The 6' 1" 230 lbs kid, will usually be rated higher, with similar production.

The fact remains, that we still have 4 & some 5 stars at the top of the depth chart in ALL areas. Don't get confused, by RR selecting 3 star guys, to fill a specific role, or provide a specific skill set off the bench.

If by "miracle season" you mean "season in which things fuck up so horrendously that Michigan has the opportunity to hire an actual competent head coach" - then I agree.

the way things are going, why would Harbaugh leave Stanford for scUM?

hes already bringing in better recruits at Stanford for this recruiting class than Dick Rod is at scUM and last years class was about just as good as scUMs, Stanford is the better situation

because harbaugh is a m*ch*gan man who would have the chance to resurrect the program and do it under his terms with relative security (because the program is so far in the crapper) .

i had a conversation with steve ross (google him; he's BIG TIME) a couple weeks ago. lots of top-level scummers like harbaugh very, very much.
