2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

UCONN - L - All things being equal this game will come down to coaching and I give that edge to Edsall.

This UM team has to be on the brink mentally at this point and the UCONN game sets the tone for the rest of the season. If they lose that one UM fans will be ready to kill someone and the team will probably throw in the towel.

ND - L
UMASS - W
BGSU - W (but closer than it ought to be, what with this being Michigan and all).
IU - W
MSU - L (BIG L)
Iowa - L (Another blow out)
PSU - L
Illini - W (barely)
Purdue - W (barely)
Wisconsin - L (Clay will ape rape that defense)
Ohio State - L (probably be closer than it should be but that's the nature of The Game)

That puts Coach Rod out and the UM football program at least three more years in the hole when they bring in another coach...unless he's another spread guy.

IF Denard Robinson can throw a pass to someone on his team so that the defense can't line up and play run...

If they can find another receiver to complement Roundtree...

IF they can find at least one cover corner...

IF they can find one linebacker...

IF they open the season 2 - 0 and not 0 - 2 they could be a bowl team.

I think Odoms and Junior Hemmingway can be those complements. Both showed some flashes as freshmen last year.

Odoms was a SO last year and he's more of a steady receiver than any kind of playmaker IMO. They need Gallon (who is reportedly struggling) or somebody else to step up and become a playmaker to take pressure off of Roundtree. Hemmingway needs to show he can stay healthy before he can be replied upon for anything...

I concur with Poe, except for the fact that it won't matter if one completes a pass, RR will still keep switching them.....LOL

Hemmingway really came on at the end of the season when he did get healthy. So I also agree, if he can STAY healthy, he could be a threat.

Gallon seems to have Braylon Edwards disease, can't catch the simple ones but catches the impossible ones.

Braylon Edwards has a disease that keeps him from being a competent wide receiver? And here I thought all this time his drops were Karma getting him back for being an ass@#$%.

Nik Pace Flags Braylon Edwards for Child Support Payments | SoSoJuicy

"Pace is suing Edwards for $70,000 per month in child support payments.

"Braylon had tried to get the case litigated in Georgia because they are traditionally less generous with child support payments. It's a cold, calculated act to pay less money."

Not to defend Braylon, but when it comes to the world of lawyers, custody and child support you fight for the best deal you can get within the law and then do what is best for your kids as you see it.

They are not remotely the same thing.

Sorry. I didn't mean to derail the TSUN thread. Still new at this.

Or use a obviously sensitive topic when there are so many other solid reasons to dislike Mr. Edwards...

Back to the 2010 season discussion. I personally think that RR makes it through next season unless they completely implode on the order of 3 or 4 wins. Harbaugh is not available til 2014 (does he have a buyout clause for scUM?) and Myles is no longer a popular choice. They will be nervous about poaching a coach considering the debacle surrounding RRs arrival. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the offseason next year in AA.
