2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

So;

  • Tater Tot has regressed to the point they are talking position change, the freshman phenom is suddenly a little "raw" which results in...wait for it...shoeless joe cantthrow looking to be the clear cut leader for the QB job.
  • The defense is still the defense.
  • Special teams might have some issues.

If I didn't know they had chips on their shoulders this year I would swear they might struggle a little bit.

Van Bergan All Conf DE? GTFOOH! He's going to have to be a warrior because that D will need all the bodies it can to not get blown off the field!
Worst than last year is a possibility.
I predict more high scoring games like last year. A slightly better record.
No Bowl.

cluster [censored], their HB production this year is going to be laughable

isnt Hopkins the guy they were calling "the next beanie wells"? :2004:

doubtful that anyone in this group brings even close to the ability of Brown and Minor

RR's offense has always been plug and play at the TB position. They will produce, but there probably isn't a star in the group.

Further adventures in Justin Turner worry. It's one thing to be behind JT Floyd, who did look considerably more confident on the short stuff Michigan was trying to his side, but with Woolfolk out with a minor injury it was James Rogers who moved up to the ones. A position move beckons.

I told UM fans after signing day that Justin Turner's senior season was truly a spectacle in regression. I don't know what happened, but he hardly looked like a MAC player when it was finished. Of course, the Michigan fans laughed at the "Buckeye homer."

Watching the replay now (not finished yet), but besides a better runner at QB, this looks like about the same team:

- poor tackling
- corners lined up extremely deep
- good DL, mediocre LBs, weak DBs
- RBs not named Minor are average
- not using Stonum at all (by design, not vision)

If Denard had Devin's frame to stay healthy, Tate Forcier's days at UM would be numbered imo. Instead they'll keep Tate involved at times, but he'll have a tough time keeping up with Denard & Devin as those two improve.

no.

Right now I'd say he's like Keith Nichol of MSU (in terms of PT, the comparison is actually opposite in terms of skillset). He'll play along with Denard, but he is clearly the #2 guy right now (just like Nichol was to Cousins last year).

And like that QB battle, I would predict that Tate will not be in the top-2 QBs next year if Devin & Denard continue to improve like they should given their raw starting point.

Devin won't be ready to take Tate's job until probably next spring at the earliest. He has the raw tools, size & upside but is just too raw.
