2010 TSUN News (in-season)

I dunno, I think it's pretty appropriate. He threw for over 1500 yards, but he was clearly a much bigger threat to run the ball. Considering that there are better "pure" QBs (Kellen Moore, Andrew Luck), it would be hard to put him in as a QB. Moreover, if he were an RB he'd clearly be one of the best in the country (statistically). I think it's a pretty good description of how he's used in the offense and should be considered an honor.

just strange. the honors are great, but he's still a QB.

would you have called D-Mac an all american QB? I would say no, same as I wouldn't call Denard an all american RB. I understand where you're coming from, but he isn't a running back.

Problem is that he's an All-American athlete, which is unfortunately not a category.

When Darren McFadden lined up at QB, was he an RB or QB? Play with the semantics all you want, but he's a back who is more of a runner than a thrower. Is it not reasonable to call him a running back?

Quarterbacks take snaps...running backs don't. Quarterback is a position...it doesn't matter who takes the snap, or what he does with the ball after he gets the snap. So, yeah, McFadden was a quarterback when he took snaps, but the problem was that he lined up as a running back the other 95% of the time...so McFadden is a running back. Conversely, Shoelaces took the snap 98% of the time, so he is a quarterback. Prettyy simple concept, actually.

I always thought Cris Carter was one of the best center's OSU ever had - but I tend to think outside the box.
