After giving up 48 to Wisky today, the 2010 defense is now the worst in Michigan's storied history - 369 points allowed (33.5 per game) with two games to go.

Since we have kicked off the most joyous week of the year, it should be noted that today The Ohio State University became the 1st team in Big Ten history to win at least 10 games in 6 consecutive seasons.

The Game has record setters on both sidelines for the 2010 edition.

Brought this over from a discussion about star rankings under RR & Carr:

in the 08 class:

RR verbals 7 *** + 4 ****
LC verbals 3 *** + 10 **** + 1 *****

Percentage of class that was 3* or less

10 RR - 63%
09 RR - 50%
08 RR - 64%

08 LC - 21%
07 LC - 40%
06 LC - 40%
05 LC - 39%
04 LC - 54%
03 LC - 35%
02 LC - 55%

04 LC - 50%
03 LC - 18%
02 LC - 30%

As you can see, RR has signed classes filled 2-3x more with three stars.

I thought this was supposed to be the TSUN News Thread. This seems like straight up shenanigans to me. Not all in. Hold the ball, spot the chain, Barwis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!1

Another common explanation is that UM defenders should not have to play as 1st or 2nd year players.

I looked at what year these defenders first started or contributed regularly on D (not ST):

2010 OSU D

7 - 1st year: Simon, Williams, Homan, Heyward, Hankins, Barnett, Bryant
7 - 2nd year: Chekwa, Larimore, Hines, Sweat, Johnson, Moeller, Howard, Brown
2 - 3rd year: Rolle, Torrence

Most defenders aren't asked to play as true freshmen, but a small portion are, and a good chunk of defenders are contributing by true soph or redshirt soph seasons.

Looking back 3 years earlier, the 07 D (since that was largely a different wave of players):

7 - 1st year: Laurinaitis, Freeman, Jenkins, O'Neal, Wilson, Gholston, Gant (backup in 04, injured in 05)
10 - 2nd year: Rose, Denlinger, Worthington, Larimore, Homan, Coleman, Russell, Washington, Gibson, Chekwa
4 - 3rd year: Abdallah, Patterson, Smith, Terry

Grant left out. Started the minute he arrived, but was a juco / jr.

We went through these same kind of exercises with the Domers when they were still in full blown denial over Weis. First the cupboard was left bare, then his recruits were too young then they finally have to deal with the truth come year 4 or so.

Lots of complete denial/rationalization/conspiracy theory/begging God to make it end stuff in there to be sure but that's pretty much my 3 major stages of college football fan mental self defense when their team hires a shitty coach.
