2010 TSUN News (in-season)

Crawford is thinking of looking around.

Not landing any defensive lineman is scary for the future. A good line can make a weak secondary look good at times. You always start up front.

Look at the 2009 class for defensive recruits Michigan landed.

Isiah Bell- Haven't really seen what he can do.
William Campbell- Switched to the OL.
Vladimir Emilien- Transferred.
Cameron Gordon- Physical guy, but seemed lost last year as a freshman
Thomas Gordon- Played the Spur.
Brandon Hawthorne- Special Teamer.
Mike Jones- Early Season injury that put him out for the year.
Anthony Lalota- transferred.
Craig Roh- Hybrid De/LB.
Justin Turner- Transferred.
Adrian Witty- Never made it.

yes, that is how our 2009 class will look going into the 2011 season. No defensive tackles. Roh is the only one that plays on the line. 11 defensive guys and 4 are no longer with the team. These guys will be juniors or red shirt sophomores.

2008 class- 33% of the entire class is no longer with the team. Our Senior and red shirt junior class. Mike Martin was the only DT/DE landed.

2008 /2009 classes regarding our defensive line..........Roh and Martin.

Michigan hasn't landed a DT yet for the 2011 class.

Seriously think about what I typed. It is a very scary concept. Should be no [censored]ing excuse. But hey some fellow Michigan fans are happy with 6/7 win seasons and the Anna Kournikova offense. The offense looks good and is fun to watch at times, but it never wins. It would be cool to have 10 win seasons, compete for big ten championships again, and go to BCS bowls....guess that isn't fun anymore.
Please go post this on gbw...I want to see how long it takes beaver or one of his henchmen to ban you. They aren't fond of facts that make anything rr look bad over there.

Looking at the depth chart...

DEFENSIVE END
Ryan Van Bergen JR(R)
Jibreel Black FR
Steve Watson JR(R)
NOSE TACKLE
68 Mike Martin JR
[strike]99 Adam Patterson SR[/strike]
[strike]73 Will Campbell SO[/strike]
DEFENSIVE END / TACKLE
[strike]92 Greg Banks SR[/strike]
[strike]95 Renaldo Segesse SR[/strike]
96 Terry Talbott FR
LINEBACKER / DEFENSIVE END
88 Craig Roh SO
58 Brandon Herron JR(R)
42 J.B. Fitzgerald JR

Not looking so hot. Jibreel Black was a contributor as a freshmen, but that's about it. Watson is a noncontributor. Herron and Fitzgerald are LBs, not DEs (regardless of what the depth chart says). If they don't pile up some DT/DEs this year, in 2012 they will have 2 JR and 1 SR to play on the line (assuming Roh doesn't bail). Hell, even if they recruit 3 DTs and 3 DEs next year, they're in a shitheap of trouble. Maybe they get Zettel this year, maybe not. What I read says that their class is almost full - so they definitely won't be stockpiling bodies this year. Yikes.

I think some of us are over looking the Barwis effect. I'm sure we failed to notice the frames on some of the recruited slot-dots, and Barwis is crafting a bunch of 5' 8" 275lb quick, fireplug like studs who will run under the opposing O-linemans legs, creating havok in the backfield.

Scout $

12/19

5'10" 17b lb CB Raymon Taylor decommitted from Indiana when Lynch was fired. He is considering (all offered): Iowa, Indiana, Illinois & Michigan. Likes the UM offer a lot, regardless of the coach.

Yeah, but only a TD better.

But unlike Indiana, things will eventually get better in Michigan... not unlike the battle of wits between Lady Astor and Winston Churchill: "Sir Winston, you are drunk."

"Lady Astor, you are ugly, the difference being that in the morning I shall be sober."

It still is. Bad as things are in AA they're better than they are in Bloomington.

2008:
UM 2-6
IU 1-7
They didn't play

2009:
UM 1-7
IU 1-7
UM wins by a FG (and a prayer)

2010:
UM 3-5
IU 1-7
UM wins on a long late drive and another prayer.

I'd say they are pretty equivalent..the difference being IU changed coaches because they were not happy being at the same level as UM..and...

IU is a basketball school.

Was a basketball school. And probably will be again.

Michigan was a football school. Despite the events of recent years they still put butts in the stands, they have a demanding fan base, a great history, great facilities and the biggest endowment fund in the Big 10, perhaps the biggest of any public university. They'll be back.
