2010 TSUN News (in-season)

Babysitting is a big part of a coach's job. If your stance is that the doors aren't locked from the inside and remind kids regularly that you didn't recruit them, then you reap the benefits when so many don't want to stick around or do so without the right commitment. I is a precarious game, balancing when to light a fire under kids or when to work through their antics.

There were a number of defenders that left, but more devastating, a lot of defenders who loved michigan who were alienated by the scheme, style and politics of rich's defense. And unlike a lot of other topics, that one can't be blamed on cloakers or rr hatred. That was all him and his staff. Warren didn't leave because he was an early pick, he left to escape the disaster.

wont disagree with any of that except Warren. I think given the chance again he'd stay if he's not told he's a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

Being told that you're a 3rd or 4th round draft pick isn't the glowing recommendation that you think it is. If you're told you're a 1st or even a 2nd round pick, I see a kid deciding to leave. If you leave after being told you're probably a 3rd or 4th round pick, you're looking for a reason to get the [censored] off the sinking ship.

Damn. I'd claim I was hurt too if I did that on national TV.

If I'm a HC and a kid is first round material...I wouldn't advise him to stay and would encourage him to go unless he really wants to play 4 years and is adament about coming back. If he is projected in the second round..depending on his family situation and whetehr or not he has a real shot at improving his draft status with another year..I'd tell him to think hard.

If he is looking at the 3rd or 4th round I'd tell him to go to class and get his diploma while playing ball for me.

No way a kid who was starting to make a name for himself should rush out the door early so he can hope to hang on somewhere in the NFL and not be a camp casualty after being a 3rd or 4th round pick.

I believe he might do it differently if he could do it over again, but I'm not buying that Warren only left because he thought he was a 4th round pick. Hindsight is 20/20...it didn't work out for him so it is easy to say he would stay if given another chance....but that of course also means that he would now have some sort of injury....

Sad thing is Michigan does well in certain situations on 1st and 2nd down. Then it could be 3rd and 20 and the other teams get it. That is so frustrating.

This was certainly the case last Saturday. PSU's conversion rate on 3rd down has been pitiful this season. I think they converted a total of 7 third downs in their previous three games. Against tsun, PSU converted 10 out of 16.

As for losing Floyd, I doubt any dropoff will be noticed. He wasn't very good.

You have been vocal about RR needing to go and I think the game at PSU sealed his fate.

I particularly liked the 3-10 right after the half that went for 40 yards.

this does not sound too good

http://www.umgoblog.com/post/JJ-DeeHartUpdate.aspx

I had a short conversation with Dr. Phillips senior RB Dee Hart. When asked to comment on his commitment to Michigan he responded by saying "we’re working on it." Asked if he would consider re-opening his recruitment he simply stated "we will see soon." That is all he gave me at that time. However I then spoke with a coach who is very close to the situation. He told me "not to worry right now" but that there are struggles not in Dee's hands. With that said, Auburn is after him hard after they lost Mike Blakely to Florida. This situation is very fluid and our staff has a lot of work to do (in two separate ways) to keep Hart committed to the maize and blue.

OK, we all know that UM's D sucks big time, but this little tid bit I saw on Stadium and Main really puts it out there:

Sec44 wrote: Which teams offensive production is represented in the following points scored and vs. whom? Answers below...

27, 31, 37, 26, 27,10, 13 21

UMASS vs.
William and Mary 27
Holy Cross 31
Michigan 37
Stonybrook 26
Towson 27
Richmond 10
New Hampshire 13
James Madison 21
So, UMASS put up more points against a FBS team with a storied history of winning than any of their FCS competition. That, my friends, is very telling.
