2010 TSUN News (in-season)

From RR's presser:

Question: Placekicking is that something that you?ll introduce another person into the equation too or do you stick with those two guys?

Coach Rodriguez: ?We had student body tryout. We had a few of them show up. Anybody, any student out there that is enrolled the University of Michigan and in good academic standing and a good guy and can kick field goals and kick the ball in the end zone, we?ll have another tryout for you if you?re listening (laughter).?

Gotta kick out of the "good guy" comment. :)

I am now accepting PayPal donations to cover the cost of admission to Michigan. Just make sure you cheer for me when I shank a couple in the 'Shoe in 2012!

When will he unveil it? :tongue2:

Their opponent's quarterback had a better quarterback rating for this game. Michigan had less time of possession, and less first downs. Michigan had only 15% more yards than the team with the "lesser" offense. When it all boils down, they did indeed win. But it was because of a couple of fluke plays. One fluke play the other way and UMass could have said "our coach has built a good offense and the offense seems to be clicking this year so far."

Actually Denard had a 248.9 rating which was better than their qb. Their qb did play well though. The offense averaged over 9 yards per play with 526 yards of total offense. The offense isn't the problem. I can't say the same thing for defense and special teams. I'm sure the offense will slow down a bit once they hit the big ten, but they will put up some yards and points against a few teams. They will also allow a lot of yards and points which is the sad part.

Well not a good game. However, 3-0 and all Michigan needs is 3 more wins to become bowl eligible. That's all that matters for this year.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but non-FBS wins don't count towards bowl eligilibility, right?

So wouldn't Michigan be 4 wins away from being bowl eligible?

You may be able to kick 60 yard FG's in your sleep, but are you a "good guy?" :)

I can remember Coop doing that while I was at tOSU...I want to say it was Andy Stamp that made the team.

BB73 will correct me I'm sure, but I can remember an open tryout for a kickoff man.

We must have been on campus at similar times. Those were some awful place kicking years. I met Josh Jackson's Dad after a game one time. It took every ounce of my being... :)
