Zem, I need your radio up here, actually, I have been listening to mostly socal radio because that's where most of the crap got laid on us, they gave me no crow, I want my [censored]ing crow, if you said "Buckeyes gonna get eaten by those ducks, they are nut eating ducks, be careful" or something along those lines, I want to hear "oh sorry, I was wrong." Now I realize Colin Coward wasn't working today, but Jim Rome, who's spent the last 3 years piling the [censored] on, gave us all of nothing before jumping on the Broncos, and Steve Hartman said nothing, after he said he hated Ohio state and couldn't wait for the Ducks to destroy us.

Now for local, mostly duck radio, I get what they need to do to improve and onto the next story, so I am cool, but those guys that piled on, I want to see them eat so [censored]ing crow, at least Plaschke had the balls to serve up a bowl for himself, and that guys a total [censored]ing nob.
Ah, I see. "nut eating ducks," lol. Didn't Coward initially predict the Bucks to get rolled, then change it to predicting a Bucks victory? I almost never listen to Rome. But earlier in the season, before the USC game, I remember he was shocked that Buckeye Nation was ignoring his program. He repeatedly solicited Buckeye emails and calls, to no avail, and it sounded like he was going to cry for lack of attention.

I mainly just dial up Spielman on the internet for sports talk. It's prohibitively difficult to find nonFavre / nonDallas Cowboys sport talk on radio... Jason Smith rarely discusses college football, and he was a hater in Dec. 2007, so I'm surprised to hear so much positive stuff from him.

Jim Rome just now: "If the Buckeyes can do the Hawkeyes for 260 yards on the ground, imagine what Tech will do (implying Tech will do much better)?"

So. Who do you respect as a sports journalist?

That's just about the last one I can think of that I really whole-heartedly admired.

I like Costas alright sometimes--even when I vehemently disagree with him--if only because I think many of his positions and opinions are well thought out.

Growing up a Reds fan in Dayton, I always loved Hal McCoy, too.

I also like Peter Gammons a lot, and various other members of the Baseball Tonight crew, past and present.

I honestly don't consider the vast majority of television sports journalists to be professionals. They are paid to be entertainers, not professional journalists, and their form of entertainment is on par with the basest forms of reality TV.

I was going to break down the Mariotti piece point by point, but I said, "Why bother?" His article basically boils down to "O sux!!! Speed killz!! Oregon rulz!!! LOL @ Sweatervest!!!" In other words, exactly what you'd expect from a 14-year old meth-head from 8 Mile ... except that Mariotti is supposed to be a legitimate journalist.

That applies to 95% of the pre-RB articles and, say, 70% of the post-RB articles. That's why I come here and read what you elitist mods have to say, because even though you have Scarlet-and-Gray-colored glasses on, you still give on-the-mark, data-supported analysis.

By contrast, a sports journalist who based his articles on data and research wouldn't be as successful as one who just tries to incense people.

"Legitimate" journalists seem to be few and far between. As a group, they seem lazy and Tao(s)ist in their style.

So. Who do you respect as a sports journalist?
Bill Plashke?(LA Times) (who is not afraid to call out USC)
Any of the ESPiN guys? (Herbie?)
Peter King? (SI)

Peter King? :slappy: Fathead hasn't had a relevant point in nearly 10 years.

Just goes to show you what a joke the media is, and how it's running/ruining college football until we get a playoff...

last year the Pac-10 was "terrible" and then we go 5-0 in Bowl games...

this year we're the "best and deepest conference" and we go 2-5...

oh yeah, and the Big-10 is "slow and bad" then Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa shut down three good offenses.
