Game Thread 2010 Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 (Final, 1/01/2010)

AS usual I am always extremely happy whenever the Buckeyes win and this win,in the face of the Ducks confidence, the degradation of the media, and the ballots cast by millions of people who said that the Ducks would win to the tune of 75% just plain makes me estatic.
Congrats on a hard won victory Buckeyes, you proved who was the better team today.

Here here. There were a lot of those moments, Rolle & an opposing linemen were still jostling after the whistle (not fighting, just blocking), and then stopped and patted each other on their way to their huddles. Fierce, classy fight.

Apparently we were watching different games. The Ducks team I saw was the biggest bunch of pile-jumpers I've ever seen.

Perhaps. You may be a more astute spectator than me. I guess I was speaking more to after-the-whistle conduct.

From their pre-game confidence that bordered on arrogance, I would've expected the Ducks players to be much bigger pricks during the game. The Ducks played hard but kept it focused on the game at hand. There will always be exceptions on both sides.

Outside of that one play one the sideline(questionable late hit) where the Oregon players were all over TP. I thought the game was a class act by everyone involved.

If you're talking about the same play I'm thinking about, then I disagree. It was a football hit that happened to be near the sidelines, and the only reason that anyone might consider it "questionable" is because it was against a quarterback. He was getting hit in bounds and the tackle continued out of bounds. The defenders could not, or should not try to hold up in that situation.

Great game by the Buckeyes. Just goes to show that you can analyze a game to death and have as many reasons as you want to think that one team would win if they play, but the only way to know for sure who will win is to have them actually play.

You know. I dont post a whole lot here. Mostly because A) normally I have nothing insightful to add to the conversation and B) because I learn a whole lot more around here by listening instead of talking. So,I held my tounge this week when certain Duck fans (not so much on this site) were talking about putting 48 on us and the old cliche slOHIO was brought up and all of that nonsense. Now, I know the gracious thing to do would be just to savor the win and be humble(this is what Coach Tressel would do). However, the coach is a much better man than me so here goes......FUCK YOU ESPiN, FUCK YOU DUCK FANS....................................... and honestly a big fuck you to the 77% of america who gave a no shot today. Great job Bucks! Thank you so much for a great season!!!

That's why I said questionable. At the time I thought it was, but now I think it was the right call. I also like how Mussberger was like TP better be carefully jawing over there. When he was laying on the ground and a few of the Oregon players around him you could see talking smack.

I absolutely agree... The Oregon and Ohio State players played with great class today. It made me smile when the DT, I believe, took Terrelle down and another defender came up and patted his helmet, and then the DT came up to him. Pure class. Really was enjoyable to watch.

I doubt that exchange was as cordial as you describe.
