2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Hmmm.......in a few weeks I plan on getting a $ account, I'm guessing I should go with Scout instead of Rivals..........any suggestions from those that have them?

IMO can't beat the insiders on Scout...

The state ranking are awful...Anderson at 2 :slappy:. Jamal Turner at 11 and Mcvey at 35 are flat out embrassing....Doesn't matter for Turner as he'll be playin in PA this season. Heard being in the top 10 is maybe the biggest reach of all....

ESPNU 150 is released.

College Football Recruiting - ESPNU 150 - ESPN

Of note:

1. Jackson Jeffcoat
2. Jordan Hicks
4. Seantrel Henderson
5. Jeff Luc
12. Lamarcus Joyner
13. Chris Dunkley
16. Mack Brown
25. Matt Elam
33. William Gholston
38. Storm Johnson
42. Johshua Shaw
43. Kyle Prater
53. Dior Mathis
58. Roderick Smith
62. Chaz Green
74. Sharrif Floyd
76. Cody Riggs
83. James Louis
86. C.J. Fiedorowicz
112. Darryl Baldwin
115. Andrew Norwell (!!!!!)
117. Devin Gardner
118. James Hurst
137. Garrison Smith
150. Corey Brown

I'm sure I missed a few notables. I see 4 OSU commits already and potentially 6 that could eventually commit. Of those 6, I'd be happy with 3+, expect at least 2 and would be dissapointed if less than 2 commit.

Surprisingly, that is not a bad list. But the ones they are crazy on:
Norwell at 115 leaves me speechless. Henderson is the #1 player nationally, though Jeffcoat is an absolute stud. Seastrunk at 20 is a tad ridiculous. Mack Brown is NOT the #16 player in the country. Corey Brown at 150 is way low.

I generally disregard anything that comes from ESPN Scouts Inc. after Chris Wells was the No. 1 tailback by both Rivals and Scout.com (I think No. 1 natonal recruit by one of those too) and he was maybe in the 30's or 40's by ESPN.

And DeVier Posey was a Top 3 receiver by Rivals and Scout.com and wasn't in the ESPN 150. Terrelle Pryor was No. 4 on their list too.

The Athlon Sports Consensus is good because it throws out outliers.

And Andrew Norwell at 115 is a joke when compared to Rivals and Scout.com.

I wasn't sure where to put this, as we don't really have a Penn State thread. This was in response to PSU's strong 2010 class
This kind of recruiting is not acceptable with the caliber of local talent they have, particularly the amount of kids that got away (many without offers) in PA.

02 - #16 0 *****, 6 **** (kapinos, farris, hali, borgoyn, kanuch, snow)
03 - #50 0 *****, 3 **** (scott, holler, posluszny). (tony hunt next highest)
04 - #12 3 ***** (Connor, Morelli, Harrison), but only 2 4* (Shipley, Sales). Two studs, 2 two yr starters. Harrison, no info?
05 - #28 2 ***** (DWill, King studs), only 2 4* (Sargeant, Hayes both good). Some gem 3*s, but also many misses).
06 - #6 2 ****** (Bell, Logan-El), many 4* (Devlin, Evans, Odrick, Wallace, Quarless, McEowen, Bowman, Maybin, Taylor, Eliades).
07 - #19 0 ******, 12 4* (Colasanti, Wisnewski, Ditto, Dailey, Stupar, Sukay, Szcerba, Still, Walton, Marks, Powell, Moye).
08 - #41 0 ******, 9 4* (Yancich, Zordich, Stankiewitch, Mauti, Wedderburn, Crawford, Lynn, Pannell, Beachum)
09 - #11 1 ****** (shrive), 7 4* (hodges, carson, brown, newsome, givens DNQ, arcidiacano, dukes)

OSU fans would be livid with a few years of this kind of recruiting, let alone over half of a decade.

02 was headlined by a punter.

That 06 class supports the rankings pretty well. That 4* list is filled with strong contributors. Scout.com can't predict that Chris Bell is going to attack a teammate with a machete, or that ALE will quit.

WHen Colasanti, Ditto, Dailey are topping your recruiting class, it is not a very good one.

The 08 class is quite underwhelming as well, particularly when you look at kids that got away like Pryor, Hale, Nix, Baldwin... three to little old pitt.
I knew they struggled in past years, but I didn't realize it was that bad. There has been no excuse to let Pitt keep them from recruiting well over the years. It's about time they fought back.
