2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Looks like Jamel Turner is either not going to be rated at all by Rivals or included with the prep school rankings.

I'm guessing you are right that he will be moved to the prep school rankings list. Although if that's the case it's odd they didn't mention it in their explanation.

It doesn't look like they've put up the 2010 prep list yetyet.

They specifically said he was dropped from the Rivals250...

You are correct... as was mentioned before in this thread they even said he is not "in the Rivals100 now after off-field issue came to light".

Or are you saying that we should read their explanations as he was dropped because he'll be in the prep rankings instead?

Turner isnt in the 250, but his RR (rivals rank) is still 6.0, which is what very high 4 star recruits get like Jordan Hicks. Andrew Norwell's on there is 5.9.

It looks like those RR's are updated too because TJ Stripling who moved from out of the 250 to # 28 is listed at a 6.0.

Rivals Q&A to the recent 250 release:

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Rivals250 Mailbag: Your questions answered

They addressed Jamel Turner's drop: (I love the cheap shot in the Q about SEC teams over signing.)

question.gif
From Joe in Detroit: What's the deal with Jamel Turner dropping? He's still supposed to be in the 2010 class at OSU. Don't these type of things happen all the time with players? For example, SEC teams in the past signed like 40 players knowing most wouldn't qualify yet all 40 would contribute to the team ranking like they were all going to show up.

answer.gif
Joe, good question- and one we need to be very clear on for you guys.
From what we understand, and we have tried to dig up as much information as we can here, it is not certain whether Turner will be playing football next year or ever again. We dropped him because of that uncertainty.
If we learn that he is playing football next year at Ursuline or another school, he will return him to where he should be in the rankings. So, we haven't changed our thoughts on Turner's abilities. We just don't know if football is in his future at this time. - Greg Ladky

They also addressed the prep school question we had earlier:

question.gif
From eobuck in Hannibal : Jamel Turner is headed to Valley Forge Military Academy and Carlos Hyde to Fork Union. Will they be included into the prep school rankings?
answer.gif
Hyde will because he's graduated high school and is in a prep year. Turner won't, he's no different than J.R. Ferguson, Kevin Newsome and others who are playing prep during their senior seasons of high school. - Mike Farrell

Question: J.R. Ferguson and Kevin Newsome were not hurt by their Prep School choices in the Rivals rankings, but Jamel Turner is?

I think it is a load of BS that Farrell and Rivals are doing this when nothing it for certain yet. Turner is still on track to be a Buckeye unless he gets in anymore trouble, but that is why he left Youngstown.

Agreed. Everyone know's that if Turner doesn't mess up again he's in. Even if he does some school will take Turner, be sure of that.

Next time Farrell is on national tv someone needs to buy him a dress shirt that isn't three sizes too big. He looked like he was 14 and borrowed dress clothes from his dad's closet.
