2010 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

The answer is really easy. They only look measurables. He doesn't look "college ready" in their eyes. Like you said they have not seen him play. When you have his stats at that high of a level you have a stud on your hands. I could care less what they think. IMO his intangibles are his biggest asset.

I know thats funny because he doesn't look like a MLB but its sad that they only look at that. Crap I would rank him as an OLB but I'm not in charge. Maybe McVey should give Rivals, Scout, and ESPN his game face like Bobby Knight did to the media...I'm sure his ranking would skyrocket.

McVey is a player. I am sure the coaches are not concerned about what Rivals or Scout are saying. They know they have a player in McVey. You put him out on the field and he will make plays. That is all you need to know. tOSU will find the right spot for him.

So would I, I think he is a SAM all the way. IMO, he should be between 8-15 in the OLB national rankings. To take this even further, I wouldn't be surprised to have more production at the next level than Hicks or Turner. I'm not sure what else Scott has to do to catch their eye...I have seen plenty of 6' or below get ranked high at LB, ie Telfort.

You see..I am not quite sold on Joyner as a CB yet. He has very little experience at the position (played mostly LB and safety) and is not big enough for either of those positions in college. People are using transitional qualities (he is a very good "football" player and hits like a ton of bricks for someone his size). He was not very impressive at the Nike camp so I will wait to see how does this season.

imo, as of right now (May 9, 2009) the best CB prospect in south florida is Cody Riggs

Not to get Grimes' thread off track...but like I said before...no offense to you, but if the tOSU staff feels that they see a CB in Joyner, I trust their opinion far more than yours. I highly doubt you'd have seen Malcolm Jenkins as a future All-American and Thorpe award winner. They did. They win.

I don't blame you man. I am a sign the best athletes and sort it out later type guy myself.

I am just speaking from pure prospect standpoint, I think Riggs is the best CB prospect in sofla as of today. He is a proven CB right now, Joyner not so much. Just one mans opinion.

I would gladly take joyner any day of the week and twice on sundays. It isn't going to happen though...and we aren't getting riggs either...

Size, though important to an extent, can be overcome with talent and hard work. Antoine Winfield came through here undersized and left as one of the best ever and went on to a heckuva pro career.

IIRC Genron alludes to Riggs being a better CB at this point. LJ has not played the position much, but will play CB in college. The potential is where LJ blows up Riggs.
