2010-2011 OSU Basketball Roster

Didn't see a thread for this, thought it would make for a good discussion. Feel free to move if I missed the appropriate topic.

Obviously the big question is regarding ET. If he returns, what do you think the starting five will look like?

Obviously Lighty has another year, as well as Diebs and William. If we had those 4 intact...wow.

Anyway, what do you guys think about the bench situation?

I think there are a few things we need to have happen, personnel wise, but we may be looking at dual sport 2011 National Champs in Football and Basketball.

Good to be a Buckeye fan!

As much as it pains me, ET i think is gone after this year. Unless he truely wants to get his degree, and win a basketball championship he will be back but i believe he will be gone. If he does come back the depth will be there for them to be probably one of the best in the country in the last 10 years maybe more!

My biggest question isn't Buford coming back, it's who is going to run the point. Craft is being brought in as a point guard but how much of a contribution will he make? I haven't seen him in AAU or high school but I do know D-III high school ball to D-I college is a BIG difference. If Craft isn't the main guy to run the point, who is it?

There's quite a bit of discussion about this in the Basketball Recruiting forum. People are pretty split about whether Craft can step in right away and play at this level like you mentioned. Perhaps, Lenzelle Smith and Craft will split time. Personally, I have no idea if Turner leaves but I am sure Matta will come up with something:)

I thought I told you to have your dad work with Dallas on those free throws:biggrin2:

Ohio State is going to be MUCH deeper next year. I expect Deshaun Thomas and Jared Sullinger to both get 20+ minutes a game. I think we'll still see a 4 around 1 offense mostly but it should be able to adapt to a 3 around 2 at times with Lauderdale/Sullinger/Thomas combinations in at times. As good as they were this year Ohio State may be even more dynamic on the offensive side of the ball as they'll be able to adapt to different teams and styles. Obviously, rebounding should be greatly improved.

I'm not going to guess about starters but if ET goes I see a rotation that mainly consists of (in no particular order) Diebler, Buford, Lighty, Lauderdale, Thomas, Sullinger, Smith/Craft and even some Jordan Sibert. I do see Weatherspoon as a possible redshirt. It will be great to see an 8 man rotation again.

Do we really think Lighty will be back? I thought the big discussion was if Lighty, ET, and Buford would stick around for another season, with a decidedly "probably not" stance? Those three are all really good draft picks, I think, with ET being the highest, followed by Lighty, and then Buford a little ways down the list. Buford would definitely benefit from staying another year, but it seems ify.

D-Light will be in a Buckeye uniform in 2010-2011. And according to this article (with direct quotes), so will Will.

Sophomore guard William Buford, also a candidate to head to the NBA, said he plans on returning for his junior season and said Turner is aware of that fact.

"He knows I'm coming back", Buford said. "That's up to him if he wants to do that. It's his future. He knows I'm coming back".

Asked if he felt he would have people in his ear telling him to turn pro, Buford said, "Probably, but I only listen to me. I've got my own mind. We've got a real good team coming in next year. I'm going to try to soak this up and go on to next year".

I'm usually not one to believe what players say minutes after their season ended, but William's words a pretty darn definitive...

So assuming ET leaves for the NBA...what's our starting lineup? I know the season just ended, but I'm already excited about some depth next year. I think Buford steps up and becomes the man next season and the frosh contribute greatly! That lost the other night sucked, but the future is very bright in Buckeyeland!
