2010-2011 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (Big Ten Tournament Champions)

No love lost between Foster and Summitt

Nearly 10 seasons have come and gone since Ohio State women's basketball coach Jim Foster took a bite out of the in-state rivalry that exists between Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

"No love lost," Foster said yesterday when asked to describe the feeling between the Volunteers and the Commodores teams that he coached for 11 seasons.

Asked if he had brought along any Tennessee orange when he took the Ohio State job in 2002, Foster crinkled his eyes and smiled.

"I don't even eat orange M&Ms," he said. "They don't taste as good as the others."

Needed to finish the half stronger. Not a good last 20 seconds.

Yep. Had 2 chances in the last minute to push the lead to 8 but turnovers sent things the other way. I'll be pleasantly surprised if our girls pull this off, but they certainly are making the Vols work for it.

Misplayed the last possession when they could have taken the last shot, allowing the Vols to get a last-second basket.

I hope that Pat Summitt is still sick to her stomach after the second half.

But it'll be tough to match that 16-of-24 shooting the Buckeyes had in the first half.

Brittany Johnson is 3/6 from behind the arc and 4 Bucks are already in double figures. So far, our ladies refuse to go away.

56-55, Vols, 11:33

Fine season for the team. They bounced back after mid-season struggles, won the B10 Tournament, made the Sweet 16, and played well against a #1 seed today.

It's hard to overstate how much Jantel Lavender will be missed. And props to Sarah Shulze for toughing it out after her injury.

Just couldn't keep pace in the final quarter. Still, a nice run coming from 5th place in the conference, winning the BTT, reaching the sweet 16 and going toe to toe with one of the best programs in the country.

Good job, girls. :osu:

I will give props where props are due and Foster pulls a magic job halfway through the season by pulling this team back together again.

As stated, without Lavender I have no idea where this team will go next year because they really have no size to speak of.

Looks like our wings better go bananas every game. Looking at the roster we almost have to run teams into the ground and tire their bigs out. We have enough guards and SF to supply other B10 teams one or two. And we add three more in the incoming class.

The only size we have is message board guys favorite Alexsandra Dobranic(Sp?) who goes 6'4", and then Ashley Adams who goes 6'5". After that Nada. Neither can be labeled as fleet of foot either.

Keys to next season to me:
1. Sammy outgrows her 3 year old toddler melt downs during games and becomes an all around leader.
2. Hill has consistent jumper and finishes at the rim. I expect her to be one of the leading scoreres next year. She has the athleticism to be special.
3. Adams gets more agile and becomes half of the beasts that Davenport and Lavender were on O and D.
4. We rebound as a team exceptionally well, especially from the wing.
5. Our bench gets deep and productive because we will be pushing the rock.
